OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY
The Medicaid Enrollment Specialist assists individuals and families with obtaining and maintaining health insurance coverage through Medicaid, the Health Insurance Marketplace (Affordable Care Act), and other available assistance programs. This position provides education, eligibility screening, application assistance, renewal support, and follow-up services to ensure patients have access to affordable healthcare coverage.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of, Medicaid programs to include but not limited to eligibility and recertification requirements ACA Marketplace plans, and other healthcare programs. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills are required. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with diverse audiences... Ability to explain complex information in a clear and understandable manner. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic health record systems. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Bilingual skills (English/Spanish or other languages) preferred. Must have a passion for health equity and social justice. Must receive and maintain Marketplace ACA certification and other certifications as required.
EDUCATION
High school diploma or GED required.
Associate or bachelor's degree in human services, Social Work, Public Health, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE
At least two years' experience within community service, health, or social service sector
MISCELLANEOUS
Ability to travel to outreach and enrollment sites must have reliable transportation. Must have a valid driver's license and proper car insurance.
