    Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor

    Location: Sumter, SC
    Department: Maintenance
    Reports To: Maintenance Manager
    Status: Exempt


    Position Overview

    The Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor leads a team of technicians to ensure the reliability, performance, and continuous operation of manufacturing equipment. This role supports preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement efforts in a high-volume production environment.

    Working closely with Operations and Engineering, this position ensures equipment operates safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime.


    Key Responsibilities

    Safety & Compliance

    • Enforce safety procedures (LOTO, confined space, hot work)

    • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure regulatory compliance

    • Support safety audits, investigations, and corrective actions

    Team Leadership

    • Lead and supervise Mechanical Technicians across multiple areas

    • Plan and prioritize maintenance activities to support production

    • Train, coach, and develop team members

    • Support staffing, onboarding, and performance management

    Maintenance & Reliability

    • Oversee preventive and predictive maintenance programs

    • Improve uptime and equipment performance across all systems

    • Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime

    • Collaborate with Engineering and Operations on equipment reliability

    Technical Support

    • Serve as escalation point for complex mechanical issues

    • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment failures (presses, grinding systems, etc.)

    • Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions

    • Support installation and commissioning of new equipment

    CMMS & Inventory

    • Utilize CMMS to manage work orders and maintenance records

    • Maintain spare parts inventory and ensure availability of critical components

    • Partner with procurement to manage parts and costs

    • Ensure accurate maintenance documentation


    Qualifications

    Required:

    • Associate’s degree or technical certification in Mechanical or related field

    • 5+ years of hands-on maintenance experience in manufacturing

    • 2+ years in a lead or supervisory role

    • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

    Preferred:

    • Journeyman or skilled trade certification

    • Experience in heavy industrial or high-speed manufacturing

    • Experience with hydraulic, mechanical, and automated systems


    Additional Details

    • Travel: As needed

    • Language: English required; German a plus

    • Supervisory: Yes (technician team)
