Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Job Description
In this position the qualified candidate will be responsible for the design and implementation of new ultrasound probe repair technologies and improving upon existing processes and capabilities. A typical project would involve reverse-engineering an OEM ultrasound probe and developing a comprehensive repair solution, or improving the existing solution for manufacturability, efficiency, and cost savings. This could include the ultrasound array, plastic lens & housings, mechanical articulation systems, printed circuit boards, cables, system interface connectors, PCBs, flexes, surface mount technologies, and an assortment of machined, 3D printed, and molded components. Most of the electrical and mechanical work is very small or micro scale technology.

A portion of the job would also include working with the operations technical team to support daily/weekly technical challenges or urgent customer needs.

A mindset of teamwork and collaboration is paramount to success in this position.

The position demands a hands-on mechanical skill set with functional knowledge of basic electrical circuitry.

Primary Skills Required
Mechanical Knowledge
  • SolidWorks, 3D Printing & Rapid Prototyping, CNC and Manual Machining – aluminum, plastics, and composites, soft and injection molding, fixturing and jig design, GD&T, complex machines and equipment.

Electronic Knowledge
  • PCB and Surface Mount Technology familiarity, basic understanding of AC and DC circuits.

Process Design and Improvement
  • Time Studies, opportunity recognition, self-motivated, collaboration, Design of Experiments (DOE). Process Implementation, LEAN Manufacturing Principles

Supply Chain Management
  • Interfacing with existing suppliers. Research and utilize suppliers with new capabilities

Teamwork & Collaboration
  • Immersive deployment – desk on shop floor. Dynamic demand requirements – “See a need fill a need" mindset, perform multiple functions, take on different responsibilities and assume various roles. Excels in collaborative environment, regularly interfacing with all levels of business.

Secondary Skills that are Desired
  • CNC Programming (ESPRIT CAM), CNC and manual machine operation, PCB drawing and design, ultrasound physics knowledge, basic programming, MRP experience, written report experience, small-scale soldering (42 ga. coaxial wire)

Educational & Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited University
  • Five years minimum in technically related positions
  • Project management experience required
