We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to design, build, and test novel thermal and electrical power generation systems. This role requires hands-on engineering experience across mechanical, chemical, plasma, thermal, vacuum, and electrical systems while working closely with engineers, technicians, machinists, and external resources.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, design, fabricate, assemble, and test power generation systems and components.
- Perform optical power measurements, generator testing, data acquisition, and diagnostics.
- Integrate mechanical, chemical, plasma, thermal, vacuum, and electrical systems to solve complex engineering challenges.
- Work with machinists, fabricators, and external vendors to support fabrication and resolve assembly or testing issues.
- Document test results, analyze data, and communicate technical challenges, solutions, timelines, and resource requirements.
Qualifications:
- Must have a bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field, along with hands-on mechanical experience.
- Must have experience with vacuum systems, data acquisition, and data analysis.
- Must be capable of designing and integrating mechanical, electrical, chemical, plasma, and thermal systems.
- Must have experience designing or implementing monitoring, control, data acquisition, and data analysis systems.
- Must be comfortable with hands-on prototyping, testing, troubleshooting, and cross-disciplinary engineering problem-solving.
