A leading engineering and design firm is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with a specialty in plumbing systems to join its dynamic MEP team based in Philadelphia. Known for delivering high-impact solutions across a wide spectrum of commercial, institutional, and industrial projects, this firm values innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence. The ideal candidate will play a key role in designing and managing plumbing systems, ensuring compliance with all regulatory codes and client specifications while contributing to the seamless integration of multidisciplinary designs.

This is a full-time, direct hire opportunity offering growth, mentorship, and the ability to work on impactful infrastructure and facility design projects in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design and develop comprehensive plumbing systems including domestic water, sanitary, stormwater, natural gas, and specialty piping.
- Execute hydraulic calculations, pipe sizing, equipment selection, and layout designs following applicable codes such as IPC, ASPE, and NFPA.
- Produce detailed construction documents including drawings, specifications, and schedules.
- Collaborate closely with architects, structural engineers, and other team members to coordinate across disciplines.
- Conduct site visits, inspections, and field assessments to ensure alignment with design intent and code compliance.
- Assist in preparing technical reports, feasibility studies, and client proposals.
- Review shop drawings and equipment submittals for compliance with project requirements.
- Participate in client and project meetings, communicating technical concepts clearly and professionally.
- Mentor junior engineers and designers, supporting their technical development and project contributions.
- Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support project success.



Key Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on plumbing design.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification.

Key Qualifications:

- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- Strong experience working on commercial, institutional, and industrial facility projects.
- Proficient in engineering software and design tools; expertise in Autodesk Revit and other BIM tools is highly preferred.
- Deep knowledge of plumbing-related codes and standards including IPC, UPC, NFPA (13, 14, 99), and ASHRAE guidelines.
- Skilled in hydraulic system design, piping layout, and fire protection systems is a plus.
- Strong site survey and field inspection capabilities.
- Membership in ASPE or similar professional organizations is advantageous.
- Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrates a collaborative mindset with internal teams and external clients.
- Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
