Job Title: Mechanical / Manufacturing EngineerJob Description

This Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineer role supports manufacturing, automation, and facility engineering initiatives within a growing operational environment. You will blend mechanical design with hands-on manufacturing engineering, working closely with operations, production, controls engineering, technicians, and leadership to improve manufacturing processes, develop production equipment, and support new facility and distribution center projects. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys combining detailed mechanical design work with direct, on-the-floor collaboration to solve real-world operational challenges in an environment that designs and manufactures HVAC equipment and machinery on site.

Responsibilities

  • Design mechanical systems, fixtures, tooling, and automation solutions that support and enhance manufacturing operations.
  • Develop 3D models and detailed engineering drawings using SolidWorks for mechanical components, assemblies, and production equipment.
  • Assist with machine design projects, including semi-automated and fully automated systems used in manufacturing and material handling.
  • Support the development of custom material handling solutions and production equipment to improve throughput and efficiency.
  • Design production aids such as workstations, bins, racks, fixtures, and related equipment to support safe and efficient assembly and manufacturing processes.
  • Partner with production teams to identify, prioritize, and implement process improvements across manufacturing operations.
  • Support manufacturing operations by performing root cause analysis on production issues and recommending improvements in efficiency, quality, and safety.
  • Participate in production startup activities and facility expansion projects, ensuring smooth integration of new equipment and processes.
  • Support the implementation of new manufacturing processes and equipment, including installation, testing, and validation.
  • Collect and analyze production data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Conduct time studies and workflow assessments to evaluate productivity and optimize labor and equipment utilization.
  • Identify opportunities for productivity improvements and support operational excellence initiatives and process optimization efforts.
  • Assist with the standardization of manufacturing methods, procedures, and best practices, including the development and refinement of standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Collaborate closely with controls engineers, technicians, manufacturing personnel, and leadership teams to execute projects and resolve technical issues.
  • Support facility engineering and distribution center projects, contributing mechanical and manufacturing engineering expertise.
  • Coordinate engineering projects from concept through implementation, including design, documentation, testing, and rollout.
  • Provide ongoing technical support for production and operational initiatives, including troubleshooting mechanical and automation equipment.
  • Work with CNC machines, industrial machinery, and assembly machines as part of machine design, setup, and optimization efforts.
  • Engage with emerging technologies and AI-enabled engineering tools to enhance design quality, process analysis, and automation capabilities.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor"s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • At least 2 years of engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency using SolidWorks for mechanical design, including 3D modeling and detailed drawing creation.
  • Experience creating engineering drawings and mechanical assemblies suitable for manufacturing and assembly.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand and design complex mechanical systems and assemblies.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities, including root cause analysis in a production or manufacturing setting.
  • Ability to work effectively in both office and production environments, including time on the manufacturing floor.
  • Experience with manufacturing engineering activities such as process improvement, continuous improvement, and process optimization.
  • Familiarity with machine design, industrial machinery, and automated equipment used in manufacturing.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing operations, including collaboration with production personnel and technicians.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience designing manufacturing equipment, tooling, fixtures, or automation systems for production environments.
  • Exposure to process improvement or continuous improvement initiatives such as lean manufacturing or similar methodologies.
  • Experience with AutoCAD for 2D drawings, layouts, or facility and equipment planning.
  • Familiarity with production data collection and analysis to drive decisions on process improvements and operational changes.
  • Understanding of machine design principles, including mechanical components, assemblies, and motion systems.
  • Experience working with controls engineers, technicians, and production personnel on integrated mechanical and automation projects.
  • Background working with CNC machines, assembly machine operation, and industrial machinery within a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience developing or working with standard operating procedures (SOPs) for manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Interest in emerging technologies and AI-enabled engineering tools to improve design, analysis, and automation capabilities.
  • Experience with mechanical design for HVAC or similar industrial equipment is beneficial but not required.

Work Environment

This role is based at a manufacturing and distribution site where HVAC equipment and machinery are designed and produced on site. You will divide your time between an office setting for design and analysis work and the production floor for hands-on support, troubleshooting, and collaboration with operations and controls teams. The environment includes exposure to CNC machines, industrial machinery, assembly equipment, and automation systems. Work typically follows standard full-time hours, with occasional flexibility needed to support production startup, equipment commissioning, or facility expansion activities. The setting is fast-paced and highly collaborative, with close interaction among engineering, production, and leadership teams, and a strong focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fontana, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $46.00 - $59.00/hr.
