The Mechanical Engineer 2 will provide engineering support for large-engine current product programs , with a focus on resolving factory issues, improving existing designs, and supporting production. This position offers an opportunity to work directly on large-engine products and production engineering challenges , including factory troubleshooting, product improvements, and mechanical design changes.

Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer 2 in Lafayette, IN. The work will be done 100% onsite, Monday–Friday from 8:00 AM–4:30 PM. This is a long-term position that can lead to permanent employment with our client. Compensation is up to $36/hr + full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401k, and holiday pay).
Job Summary
The Mechanical Engineer 2 will provide engineering support for large-engine current product programs, with a focus on resolving factory issues, improving existing designs, and supporting production. This position will review engine orders, identify opportunities to incorporate improved designs, and collaborate with engineering, quality, and operations teams to implement changes into production. The role requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems and engines, along with the ability to interpret engineering drawings and apply mechanical design principles.
Key Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support for engine current product and production activities.
• Troubleshoot and resolve factory and equipment issues, including built-in-quality projects.
• Review engine orders and determine opportunities to update products with improved designs.
• Collaborate with engineering design teams to review, approve, and implement design changes into production.
• Research, design, develop, and test mechanical components, equipment, engines, and related systems.
• Investigate equipment failures, diagnose faulty operation, and recommend corrective actions.
• Create, review, and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, specifications, and technical documentation.

Required Qualifications

• 4-year engineering degree required; Bachelor's degree in Engineering is specified in the requisition.
• Strong mechanical/engine knowledge, particularly involving engines, automotive systems, or farming/agricultural equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and technical reports.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1–4 years of mechanical design experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) preferred.
• Experience with Creo / 3D CAD.
• Experience with Teamcenter Visualization.
• Previous experience supporting engine, automotive, agricultural equipment, or similar mechanical products.
• Experience working cross-functionally with engineering design, shop quality, manufacturing, and operations teams.
