Job Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Talent Management

  • Direct shift schedules: Build and manage weekly labor schedules to ensure optimal staffing levels during peak hours while controlling labor costs.
  • Train and develop: Mentor assistant managers, shift leaders, and crew members to help them reach their full career potential.
  • Lead hiring efforts: Interview, onboard, and retain high-performing team members to maintain a full and motivated staff.
  • Conduct performance reviews: Provide regular, constructive feedback and evaluations to help team members improve and grow

Restaurant Operations & Quality Control

  • Enforce brand standards: Ensure strict compliance with McDonald’s gold standard policies regarding food safety, cleanliness, and service speed.
  • Monitor kitchen operations: Oversee food preparation, waste tracking, and assembly to ensure every guest receives fresh, accurate orders.
  • Optimize drive-thru efficiency: Actively coach the team on hospitality behaviors and operational bottlenecks to keep drive-thru and front-counter times low.
  • Maintain facilities: Coordinate routine equipment maintenance, troubleshoot minor issues, and ensure the restaurant meets high cleanliness standards inside and out.

Financial & Business Administration

  • Manage inventory: Conduct accurate daily and weekly inventory counts, place supplier orders, and minimize food variance or waste.
  • Analyze P&L statements: Review profit and loss statements monthly to identify trends, manage food and labor costs, and maximize restaurant profitability.
  • Handle cash management: Oversee daily safe drops, bank deposits, register audits, and verify overall cash handling compliance.
  • Report performance data: Review daily sales metrics, guest satisfaction scores, and operational targets to share progress with the Vargas Management Inc. leadership team.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years of high-volume restaurant management experience (Quick Service Restaurant/Fast Food experience is highly preferred).
  • Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent required; a degree in business or hospitality management is a plus.
  • Certifications: Current ServSafe Manager certification (or willingness to obtain it within the first 30 days).
  • Availability: Flexible schedule availability, including the ability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs dictate.
  • Background: Must pass a standard background check and have reliable transportation to travel across our Lubbock locations if needed.

Essential Leadership & Technical Skills

  • Financial acumen: Strong understanding of restaurant P&L statements, food cost controls, labor optimization, and inventory tracking.
  • Team development: Proven ability to recruit, train, motivate, and retain a diverse, multi-generational workforce.
  • Operational execution: Expert knowledge of food safety guidelines, drive-thru efficiency strategies, and shift management workflows.
  • Tech proficiency: Comfort using modern Point of Sale (POS) platforms, inventory management systems, and scheduling software.
