Job Title: Material Coordinator II – Material Planning and Control
Client: Heavy Machine Manufacturing Company
Duration: 12 Months – Possible Extension/Conversion
Location: Davenport, IA 52809
Shift: 3rd Shift | 9:00 PM – 5:30 AM
Work Arrangement: Onsite
Schedule: 8–10 hours typical; work week often ~50 hours
Overtime: Required based on business needs
Weekend Work: Required based on production needs
Description:
Job Summary
The Material Coordinator II coordinates the flow, availability, and accuracy of production materials across multiple factory departments, including shipping and receiving.
The role ensures production teams have the right parts available on time while managing inventory, resolving material shortages, coordinating replenishment, and supporting production schedules.
Key Responsibilities
· Coordinate the procurement, expediting, production, and delivery of materials across multiple departments.
· Ensure production personnel have the required parts to maintain uninterrupted production.
· Monitor and maintain inventory accuracy and material availability.
· Identify material shortages and determine root causes.
· Resolve inventory errors and expedite critical parts.
· Work with critical shortage reports to ensure part availability.
· Coordinate the movement of rejected material back to the source.
· Use the Master Schedule to create and distribute daily production schedules.
· Process inbound and outbound material transactions as needed.
· Audit material replenishment cycles and inventory accuracy.
· Assist with creating material replenishment plans.
· Coordinate tactical execution of production plans across broader factory teams.
· Implement outputs from engineering releases and change management processes.
· Identify process or system issues and recommend improvements.
· May provide work direction to material handlers, stock chasers, or truckers.
· Work closely with Operations and Supply Management teams to support production.
Required Skills & Qualifications
· Experience in Supply Management, Operations, Supply Chain, or Logistics.
· Strong understanding of manufacturing demands and material flow.
· Knowledge of production scheduling and inventory control.
· Ability to analyze data and identify opportunities for improvement.
· Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks.
· Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
· Strong customer-service mindset.
· Ability to respectfully engage with operators, team members, and stakeholders.
· Ambitious, motivated, and can-do attitude.
Software / Technical Skills
· Microsoft Office proficiency.
· SAP or equivalent MRP systems – a plus.
· Experience working with SAP MRP is highly valuable for scheduling, coordinating, and controlling inventory.
Preferred
· Previous or current military experience preferred.
· Experience with SAP/MRP systems.
· Experience in manufacturing material coordination or production support.
