Job Title:         Material Coordinator I

Client:              Heavy Machine Manufacturing Company 

Duration:         12 Months – Possible Extension/Conversion 

Location:         Moline, IL 61265 

Shift:                1st 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM 

Work Arrangement: Onsite 
  
Description: 
The Material Coordinator I will coordinate material flow, inventory management, and material replenishment activities to support manufacturing operations at John Deere's Seeding Group facility in Moline, IL. This position ensures that production teams have the necessary parts and materials available on time to meet daily production goals. 
The role involves maintaining inventory accuracy, investigating material shortages, resolving inventory discrepancies, coordinating material movement, and supporting production schedules. The Material Coordinator will collaborate with production, warehouse, supply management, and engineering teams to ensure efficient material flow and minimize production interruptions. 

 

Job Responsibilities


Responsibilities 

  • Maintain and improve inventory accuracy by identifying discrepancies, analyzing root causes, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Coordinate material flow and replenish Kanban systems to ensure parts are available for production.
  • Monitor inventory levels, identify material shortages, and expedite parts to prevent production delays.
  • Coordinate the procurement, movement, and expediting of materials, including rejected materials returned to their source.
  • Use master schedules to create and distribute daily production schedules.
  • Monitor critical shortage reports and take appropriate action to maintain production continuity.
  • Audit material replenishment cycles and inventory accuracy.
  • Support material replenishment planning and improve material presentation for production departments.
  • Process inbound and outbound material transactions when required.
  • Work cross-functionally with production, warehouse, supply management, and engineering teams to meet daily production targets.
  • Recommend improvements to inventory control, material handling, and production scheduling processes. 

 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications and Skills 

  • Experience in manufacturing operations, material flow, or inventory management.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and root-cause analysis skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and respond quickly to material shortages.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with SAP Materials Management (MM) or Warehouse Management (WM).
  • Experience in supply management or manufacturing operations.
  • Familiarity with the Deere Production System.
  • Experience working with a unionized workforce.
  • Previous experience with inventory control, material replenishment, or production scheduling. 


Work Schedule and Additional Requirements 

  • Overtime may be required, including potential Saturday work.
  • Must be able to work on-site in Moline, Illinois.
  • Manufacturing experience is strongly preferred. Candidates with recent warehouse experience may be considered if they have relevant material coordination skills.
  • Recent graduates with relevant internships or projects may also be considered.
  • Local candidates are preferred over candidates requiring relocation.
  • Visa sponsorship is not available now or in the future.
