Job Overview

The Material Coordinator I is responsible for coordinating the flow, availability, and accuracy of materials within the factory. This role ensures production teams have the required parts and materials while supporting inventory control, material replenishment, shipping/receiving, and production scheduling.

Job Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

·         Coordinate material flow and Kanban replenishment within the factory.

·         Ensure production teams have required parts and materials.

·         Monitor inventory accuracy and material availability.

·         Support shipping and receiving activities.

·         Identify material shortages and recommend solutions.

·         Determine root causes of material shortages.

·         Coordinate procurement, expediting, and movement of rejected materials.

·         Support execution of production plans within assigned factory areas.

·         Use the Master Schedule to create and distribute daily production schedules.

·         Process inbound and outbound material transactions.

·         Audit material replenishment cycles and accuracy.

·         Create material replenishment plans with assistance.

·         Count inventory and resolve discrepancies.

·         Expedite parts to prevent production interruptions.

·         Monitor critical shortage reports and ensure part availability.

·         Follow Deere Production Systems principles for material logistics.

 

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

·         Create and edit manufacturing routings.

·         Generate programs for laser operations.

·         Review manufactured-part drawings/prints.

·         Check production and forecasted inventory.

·         Transfer stock between departments.

·         Coordinate material transfers with other departments.

·         Communicate with Supply Management regarding purchased parts and availability.

·         Update daily and weekly reports using Excel and Microsoft Office.

·         Manage queues for short-stock items and backorders.

·         Maintain employee records.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

·         2-year degree in: Pre-Engineering, Manufacturing/Engineering Technology, Computer-Aided Drafting, Related field, Or equivalent experience

·         Experience in a manufacturing environment.

·         Experience with Microsoft Office.

·         Strong organizational and communication skills.

·         Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.

·         Experience tracking and managing warehouse inventory.

·         Ability to work with Supply Management, Design Engineering, and Operations teams.

 

Technical Skills

Strong Excel skills required, including:

·         Macros

·         Pivot Tables

·         Reports

·         Data tracking and analysis

 

Additional Requirements

·         Ability to determine part due dates and delivery dates in coordination with Supply Management, Engineering, and Operations.

·         Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities based on part availability and business needs.

Strong understanding of material flow, inventory management, production schedules, and shortage resolution.
