The purpose of this position is to oversee daily operations and activities at the Senior Activity Center. This is accomplished by scheduling tasks to ensure that staff is able to help patrons with program and membership registrations and monitoring the use of facilities.

Other duties include providing reports about class participation and membership usage in the fitness room and various programs and events, organizing, planning and providing supervision of recreational activities, recreational facilities, special events and other related programs.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily operations of the Senior Activity Center by create staff schedules based on operational needs of the facilities, assigning tasks to Recreation Coordinator and part-time employees, resolving issues at the Senior Activity Center and submitting requests for facility maintenance issues.
  • Maintain current reports and updates to management by submitting monthly reports for facility usage (memberships, class participation), preparing staff timesheets and evaluating facility and staffing needs.
  • Create and supervise recreational activities by organizing recreational classes conducted at the Senior Center, providing supervision for dances, trips, and activities scheduled at the senior center, developing programs with the assistance of the Senior Center Site Council.
  • Performs budget review by reviewing recreation expenditures, creating monthly revenue submissions, providing departmental input to management regarding the determination of staffing needs and relevant material costs as well as volunteers needed during school breaks and summer months to operate the center.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field;
  • Five (5) years of related work experience in recreation center operations with at least two (2) years of which should be in a supervisor role;
  • Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience; and
  • Valid Driver's License.

  • Skill in the operation and use of standard office software which includes databases and presentation programs, along with standard Microsoft products;

Vacation

Non-civil service employees accrue 6.67 hours per month (2 weeks per year).

All police employees accrue 10 hours per month (3 weeks per year).

All Fire employees accrue 15 hours per month (7.5 - 24 hour shifts a year).

Sick Leave

Non-civil service employees accrue 10 hours per month (3 weeks per year).

Holidays

Non-civil service employees receive 13 paid holidays per year including one personal or "floating" day.

Longevity Pay

Earned at a rate of $4 per month.

This is calculated on number of years of service up to and including 25 years (maximum $1200).

Eligible for Education/Certification pay.
