Maintenance Technician - Orton Keyes

We’re seeking a full-time Maintenance Technician to join our team at Orton Keyes, our 175-unit affordable housing community in Rockford, IL. If you’re hands-on, resourceful, and enjoy making a difference through the work you do, we’d love to hear from you!

What You'll Be Doing:

• Complete daily maintenance and repairs for plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and appliances.

• Maintain exterior of the property along with tackling seasonal prep such as fall cleanup or snow removal.

• Perform daily property walks to keep everything clean, safe, and looking sharp.

• Respond promptly to routine and emergency maintenance requests when assigned.

• Prepare vacant apartments for new residents using make-ready checklists.

• Inspect buildings and grounds to maintain safety, cleanliness, and curb appeal.

• Maintain common areas, exterior spaces, and grounds.

• Communicate with vendors and contractors.

What You'll Bring:

• Minimum of two years of previous experience in property management maintenance, building maintenance, or related trade.

• Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, basic HVAC, and appliance repair.

• Reliable form of transportation to get to work each day.

• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet insurability requirements.

• Ability to participate in the on-call emergency rotation schedule.

• Strong customer service skills with a resident-first mindset.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• HVAC-EPA (Type II), or EPA Universal preferred.
