Description

The Maintenance Technician will apply various technologies to test, modify and repair manufacturing machinery and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

In partnership, and collaboration with plant operations and human resources:

• Performs complex periodic preventive maintenance on automated and other production systems and equipment using knowledge of solid state circuitry, electronics, electrical-mechanical devices, motors, wiring diagrams, and schematics, computers, etc.
• Troubleshoots, repairs, aligns, calibrates, inspects, and tests various production lines and equipment.
• Programs logic controls for proper equipment operation.
• Ensures quality and consistency in production processes by assessing, modifying, and/or calibrating equipment.
• Ensures efficiency and productivity by evaluating and modifying production processes and/or equipment.
• Identifies, troubleshoots, and resolves issues with equipment, devices, or products; uses precision instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to make adjustments.
• Assists Supervisor with tasks related to development, construction, and evaluation of prototypes, new products, operations, and/or procedures.
• Inspects and identifies equipment or machines in need of repair.
• Reads and interprets schematics and equipment manuals to perform required maintenance and service.
• Maintains records to ensure accountability of time, parts, and repairs to meet regulatory compliance and budget constraints.
• Installs and performs diagnostic tests on mechanical systems.
• Develops and implements mechanical maintenance plans to prevent costly equipment breakdowns.
• Communicates with management and other maintenance personnel on a timely basis to facilitate maintenance and repairs.
• Makes repairs to tools and equipment as needed.
• Uses hand and power tools and ensures tools and equipment are maintained and repaired.
• Cleans and assists with the upkeep of the facilities.
• Complies with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) procedures including timely and accurate documentation of required SQF forms and safety policies.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

EDUCATION AND FORMAL TRAINING:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• A minimum of five (5+) years industrial maintenance experience to include mechanical, electrical, and PLC, preferably in a manufacturing environment
• Extensive knowledge of mechanical engineering designs, installations, maintenance, and repairs
• Knowledge of Allen Bradley controls input
• Able to troubleshoot and program VFD's
• Able to troubleshoot input and output signals
• A valid driver license in good standing
• Forklift Certification

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:

• Strong electrical and mechanical experience, preferably in a food processing environment
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage priorities and workflow
• Flexibility and willingness to work within constantly changing priorities
• Display a positive attitude and work well with all levels of personnel, whether individually or in a team environment
• Must be able to effectively manage time by organizing and planning work
• Must be able to use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties
• Experience and ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Ability to work well with all levels of employees, whether individually or in a team environment
• Effectively communicate questions, problems, and reports to co-workers, supervisory and management personnel
• Flexibility to accommodate unscheduled changes in duties and work overtime as needed
• Strong attention to detail
• Willingness to perform mechanical maintenance and repairs outside of business hours
