Maintenance Technician

The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical maintenance skills and hands-on experience with hand and power tools, pneumatic systems, motors, basic electrical wiring, pipe fitting, and equipment repair. The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for maintaining and repairing machinery and mechanical equipment to support safe, reliable, and efficient production operations.

Pay: $30–$35/hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to join our team in Chicago. The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for maintaining and repairing machinery and mechanical equipment to support safe, reliable, and efficient production operations.

The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical maintenance skills and hands-on experience with hand and power tools, pneumatic systems, motors, basic electrical wiring, pipe fitting, and equipment repair.

Key Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot mechanical equipment by observing machinery in operation, identifying issues, and using measuring and testing instruments.

• Dismantle equipment and remove defective or damaged parts using hand and power tools.

• Unload hazardous materials into designated storage vessels while following all required safety procedures.

• Perform preventive maintenance and help minimize equipment downtime.

• Communicate routine preventive maintenance requirements and procedures to production personnel.

• Monitor maintenance parts, equipment, and supply inventories and identify replenishment needs.

• Use maintenance resources, equipment, and supplies efficiently.

• Provide mechanical maintenance information and respond to maintenance-related questions and requests.

• Prepare maintenance reports by documenting, collecting, and summarizing maintenance activities and findings.

• Maintain clear documentation and communication regarding completed work, equipment issues, irregularities, and ongoing maintenance needs.

• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment while following company procedures, safety rules, and regulations.

• Assist with other maintenance-related duties as needed.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment.

• Proficiency with hand tools and power tools.

• Basic skills in grinding, cutting, and brazing.

• General knowledge of mechanical maintenance and equipment repair.

• Basic electrical wiring knowledge.

• Basic pipe fitting skills.

• Experience with small motor repair.

• Familiarity with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.

• Familiarity with hot work permitting and related safety requirements.

• Ability to troubleshoot equipment and identify mechanical problems.

• Strong commitment to workplace safety.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance/production team.
