Position Summary
Works under general supervision to perform various repair and maintenance work and perform other generalized duties in the operation of county facilities.
Pay Grade: 47H
Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education
Minimum Qualifications
Two (2) years of experience as a maintenance mechanic; AND
High school diploma or possess a GED.
PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.
Duties and Responsibilities
Replaces defective electrical switches and other fixtures, including changing ballasts with the power off.
Paints walls, floors, woodwork, and fixtures of buildings using spray guns, rollers, and brushes.
Repairs and replaces gauges, valves, faucets, complete flush valves, pressure regulators, and open clogged drains using plumbers' tools.
Replaces and repairs brick and plaster walls.
Makes and repairs counters, benches, partitions, and other wooden structures using saws, braces, bits, and other carpenters' tools.
Performs minor welding jobs.
Performs other related duties as required or directed.
KSAs
General knowledge of the practices and procedures of maintenance and construction.
General knowledge of wood tools and instruments and their maintenance and use.
Ability to read and work from blueprints.
Ability to perform a variety of carpentry duties.
Ability to replace and repair non-complex electrical installations.
Knowledge of painting techniques and use of painting materials and equipment.
Ability to replace and repair non-complex plumbing installations.
Physical Requirements
Must have manual dexterity.
Must pass a physical examination
Special Requirements
Must pass a criminal background check.
Must be able to work in a jail environment.
