Position Overview
Stand-By Personnel is seeking an experienced Maintenance Lead to oversee second-shift maintenance operations for an industrial manufacturing facility in Tulsa. This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for supporting the maintenance team, performing advanced equipment diagnostics, managing preventive maintenance activities, and helping ensure production equipment operates safely and efficiently.
The ideal candidate combines strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting experience with proven leadership ability. This position requires someone who can diagnose complex equipment problems, prioritize maintenance requests, support and develop Maintenance Technicians, and work closely with Operations to minimize downtime.
Required Experience & Skills
Previous maintenance leadership, Lead, or supervisory experience required
Strong industrial mechanical troubleshooting skills
Strong electrical troubleshooting and repair experience
Experience performing advanced equipment diagnostics
Root cause analysis and problem-solving experience
Knowledge of preventive maintenance programs and scheduling
Experience repairing industrial production equipment
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
Strong organizational and work-prioritization skills
Ability to assign and coordinate maintenance activities
Basic computer skills required
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proven ability to train, mentor, and support Maintenance Technicians
Self-motivated with strong accountability and initiative
Strong commitment to workplace safety and operational excellence
Leadership Responsibilities
Lead and support Maintenance Technicians during second-shift operations
Provide daily direction to the maintenance team
Prioritize maintenance work according to production needs
Assign work orders and repair requests
Coordinate maintenance coverage throughout the shift
Monitor progress on assigned maintenance activities
Provide technical assistance with difficult repairs
Train and mentor Maintenance Technicians
Help develop troubleshooting and repair skills within the team
Promote accountability and professional work habits
Communicate significant equipment or staffing concerns to management
Maintain effective communication between Maintenance and Operations
Advanced Diagnostics & Troubleshooting
Diagnose complex industrial equipment problems
Perform advanced mechanical troubleshooting
Troubleshoot electrical systems and components
Identify recurring equipment failures
Perform root cause analysis
Develop appropriate corrective actions
Repair or coordinate repair of defective equipment
Test equipment following repairs
Help prevent recurring failures through effective troubleshooting
Escalate major equipment concerns when necessary
Mechanical & Electrical Maintenance
Candidates may troubleshoot and maintain:
Industrial production machinery
Mechanical drive systems
Motors and related components
Electrical equipment and systems
Plumbing systems
Electronic controls and components
Facility equipment
Other industrial production systems
The Maintenance Lead must be comfortable providing hands-on technical support rather than functioning solely as a supervisor.
Preventive Maintenance Leadership
Execute and oversee preventive maintenance schedules
Ensure assigned PM activities are completed on time
Inspect equipment for wear and potential failures
Coordinate planned equipment maintenance
Review recurring equipment problems
Identify opportunities to improve PM procedures
Help reduce unexpected equipment breakdowns
Maintain accurate preventive maintenance documentation
Support improvements to equipment reliability and uptime
Work Order Management
Review incoming maintenance requests
Determine priority based on safety and production impact
Assign work to appropriate Maintenance Technicians
Monitor outstanding work orders
Ensure completed repairs are documented
Communicate repair status to Operations
Coordinate follow-up work when additional repairs are required
Help ensure maintenance resources are used efficiently throughout the shift
Operations & Downtime Support
Work closely with Operations during equipment failures
Prioritize repairs that directly affect production
Respond quickly to breakdowns
Coordinate Maintenance Technician resources
Help return equipment to service safely and efficiently
Identify recurring sources of production downtime
Recommend corrective or preventive actions
Support continuous improvements to equipment reliability
Team Training & Development
Train employees on maintenance procedures
Provide hands-on technical guidance
Help Technicians improve mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
Reinforce proper documentation practices
Support safe maintenance procedures
Mentor less-experienced Maintenance Technicians
Encourage independent problem-solving while remaining available for technical support
Facility Maintenance

Documentation & Computer Responsibilities
Maintain accurate maintenance records
Document completed repairs and troubleshooting activities
Monitor preventive maintenance documentation
Complete basic computer data entry
Maintain work-order information
Communicate unresolved equipment concerns between shifts
Ensure maintenance activities are properly documented
Preferred Qualifications
Industrial Maintenance Lead experience
Manufacturing Maintenance Supervisor experience
Advanced mechanical troubleshooting experience
Advanced electrical troubleshooting experience
Root cause analysis experience
Preventive maintenance program management experience
Industrial equipment repair experience
Technical schematic interpretation experience
Facility maintenance experience
High school diploma, GED, or technical certification
High Pressure Boiler License is a plus
Physical Requirements
Ability to frequently lift and move up to 75 lbs
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift
Frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, climbing, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling
Ability to safely access industrial equipment for troubleshooting and repair
Manual dexterity required for tools and equipment components
Comfortable performing hands-on maintenance work while leading other employees
Ability to safely work around moving machinery and industrial equipment
Ability to wear all required PPE
