Description

Constellation Search Group is looking for a Machining Technical Lead for a full-time direct hire position. The Technical Lead serves as a vital connection between engineering, production, and the shop floor, providing advanced technical support and process leadership in a precision machining environment. This role focuses on optimizing machining processes, ensuring efficiency and quality standards are consistently met, and acting as the go-to expert for troubleshooting and continuous improvement. The Technical Lead supports machinists with daily guidance and training, enhancing both their technical skills and the overall workflow. 


Responsibilities:

  • Optimize machining processes to improve cycle times, reduce scrap, and enhance tool life.
  • Diagnose and resolve CNC tooling failures, dimensional issues, machine alarms, and setup challenges.
  • Assist with G code edits, offsets, toolpath adjustments, and program validation.
  • Document best practices by creating setup sheets, standard work instructions, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Recommend cutting tools, holders, and fixtures to enhance performance and cost-efficiency.
  • Verify setups, inspect initial parts, and ensure processes meet print requirements.
  • Manage daily shop activities by providing direction to machinists and ensuring smooth workflow.
  • Support new product introduction through prototype machining, process development, and tooling trials.
  • Train and mentor machinists in setup, measurement techniques, blueprint reading, and machine operations.
  • Mentor junior technicians, supporting their career growth and technical development.
  • Reinforce quality, safety, and productivity standards through coaching and feedback.
  • Act as a liaison between engineering, quality, and production teams.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required; associate degree in machining or engineering preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in machining with proven technical aptitude in multi-turret functions.
  • Advanced knowledge of CNC mills, lathes, multi-axis equipment, and precision measurement tools.
  • Proficiency in interpreting complex blueprints and applying geometric tolerancing.
  • Experience with G code, CAM software, or machine controls (Fanuc, Haas, Mazak, etc.).
  • Proven abilities in developing technical capabilities of team members and enhancing training documentation.
