    PART I: SUMMARY OF POSITION

    The Lunch Supervisor is accountable for ensuring that students are appropriately supervised during the ten minute lunch duty period.

    PART II: MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    A. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • High School Diploma or a general education development (GED) certificate.
    • Two (2) years of full-time employment or equivalent work that could reasonably be expected to provide the knowledge, skills and abilities listed.
    • Incumbents in this class may be required to possess and retain a current Illinois Motor Vehicle operator's license.

    B. CREDENTIALS:

    • Knowledge of student behavior management, supervision, and de-escalation strategies.
    • Knowledge of school safety, security, emergency response procedures, and applicable District policies, laws, rules, and regulations.
    • Knowledge of child and adolescent cognitive, social, emotional, communicative, and physical development and the factors that influence student learning and behavior.
    • Knowledge of and respect for diverse cultural, linguistic, and environmental backgrounds and their impact on student success.
    • Effective oral, written, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution communication skills.
    • Ability to administer first aid and respond appropriately during emergencies.
    • Ability to promote and reinforce safe, healthy, positive, and productive learning environments.
    • Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, staff, and individuals from diverse backgrounds while maintaining professionalism and respect.
    • Ability to implement positive behavior support, intervention, and de-escalation strategies to reinforce appropriate student behavior and social skills.

    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate ethical practices in handling student information.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively as part of a team.
