LHH is partnering with a well-established defense litigation firm seeking a seasoned Litigation Paralegal to support complex municipal and governmental defense matters. This role supports attorneys handling high-exposure cases involving public entities and requires strong command of discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation in both state and federal courts.
This is an excellent opportunity for a paralegal who enjoys hands-on involvement in large-scale, document-intensive litigation and is comfortable working under tight deadlines on matters with significant procedural and evidentiary demands.
What You'll Do
Support defense counsel on municipal and governmental litigation from case inception through resolution
Manage litigation workflows for complex matters, including discovery strategy support, motion practice, and trial preparation
Draft, review, and file pleadings, motions, subpoenas, and written discovery in state and federal courts
Handle state and federal e-filings, including PACER and local court systems
Coordinate large-volume document collection, review, and production, including privilege tracking
Prepare deposition and trial materials such as exhibit lists, witness files, and trial binders
Maintain and organize case files, discovery databases, and litigation calendars
Communicate with courts, opposing counsel, municipal departments, and third-party vendors as needed
What They're Looking For
5+ years of litigation paralegal experience, defense-side strongly preferred
Experience supporting large, complex matters; municipal or governmental defense experience is a plus
Strong working knowledge of Illinois state and federal court procedures
Comfortable managing document-heavy cases and strict litigation deadlines
Proficient with e-filing platforms, document management systems, and Microsoft Office
Exceptionally organized, detail-driven, and proactive
Able to manage multiple deadlines and priorities with minimal oversight
