Title: Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW)
Location: Staten Island, NY (Onsite)
Employment Type: Full Time - Mon-Fri 09:00am–05:00pm
Compensation:Pay Range: $65,000-$70,000 Per Year
About the Organization:• Our client is an established nonprofit behavioral health organization providing residential treatment and recovery services to individuals impacted by substance use disorders, trauma, and co-occurring behavioral health needs.
• The organization takes a team-based approach to recovery, combining clinical services, counseling, case management, education, structured activities, and ongoing support to help individuals build stability and successfully transition back into the community.
• This opportunity is based within a 45-bed men's residential treatment program where residents typically participate in treatment for approximately 9–12 months.
About the Role:• We are seeking a New York State Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) to join an experienced multidisciplinary residential treatment team.
• This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career LMSW looking to build clinical experience within substance use and behavioral health.
• The organization is open to candidates whose experience comes from MSW internships or field placements and provides opportunities for continued clinical development and progression toward LCSW licensure.
• Unlike a traditional therapy position, this role does not carry a heavy ongoing counseling caseload.
• The LMSW primarily supports new admissions by completing clinical assessments and initial treatment planning before transitioning residents to their primary counselors.
Responsibilities:• Complete biopsychosocial assessments for new admissions
• Develop initial treatment/service plans
• Conduct substance use and co-occurring disorder screenings and assessments
• Participate in the intake and orientation process
• Support approximately 1–2 new admissions per week
• Collaborate with primary counselors following the initial assessment and treatment-planning process
• Participate in treatment-team meetings and case conferences
• Assist with crisis intervention and resident support as needed
• Provide limited individual, group, or family support based on resident needs and referrals
• Coordinate referrals, case management, and care coordination when appropriate
• Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation
• Participate in interventions, trainings, outreach, and resident activities
• Work collaboratively with counselors, clinical leadership, and other members of the residential treatment team
• Remain engaged with resident progress and communicate observations or concerns to the treatment team
• Participate in the overall residential community and support program needs as they arise
Qualifications:• Active New York State LMSW license required
• Master's degree in Social Work
• Experience with substance use disorder, behavioral health, trauma, or co-occurring populations preferred
• MSW internships and clinical field placements will be considered as relevant experience
• Newer LMSWs are encouraged to apply
• Experience completing biopsychosocial assessments and treatment plans preferred
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills
• Comfortable working as part of a multidisciplinary residential treatment team
• Flexible, personable, collaborative, and willing to learn
Schedule & Work Environment:• This position is approximately 99% onsite. The typical schedule is around 9:00 AM–5:00 PM, although program needs may occasionally require an adjusted schedule such as 12:00 PM–8:00 PM or staying later for a family meeting or other resident-related need.
• Residential treatment is a dynamic environment, so the ideal candidate will be comfortable with some flexibility and enjoy being actively involved with both residents and the treatment team.
Why Consider This Opportunity:• This is a strong opportunity for an LMSW who wants to gain meaningful clinical experience without immediately taking on a large therapy caseload.
• You will gain hands-on exposure to substance use treatment, trauma, assessments, treatment planning, case conferences, interdisciplinary care, and residential behavioral health while working alongside an experienced clinical team.
• The organization also offers the opportunity for continued professional development and support toward LCSW licensure.
