Title: Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW)
Location: Staten Island, NY (Onsite)
Employment Type: Full Time - Mon-Fri 09:00am-05:00pm
Compensation:Pay Range: $65,000-$70,000 Per Year
About the Organization:• Our client is an established nonprofit behavioral health organization providing residential treatment and recovery services to individuals impacted by substance use disorders, trauma, and co-occurring behavioral health needs.
• The organization provides comprehensive, team-based treatment designed to address both the clinical and everyday challenges that can impact long-term recovery.
• Services incorporate clinical support, counseling, case management, education, structured activities, and coordination of care within a supportive residential environment.
• This opportunity is based within a 30-bed women's residential treatment program where residents typically participate in treatment for approximately 9–12 months.
About the Role:• We are seeking a New York State Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) who is interested in developing their clinical skills while working closely with women receiving residential substance use treatment.
• This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career LMSW. Candidates do not need years of post-graduate clinical experience to be considered.
• Relevant MSW internships and field placements count as experience, and the organization is willing to train and develop a motivated clinician.
• The position also provides opportunities for continued clinical growth and progression toward LCSW licensure.
• This is not a traditional high-caseload therapy position. The LMSW's primary responsibility is supporting new admissions through assessment and initial treatment planning before transitioning residents to their primary counselors.
Responsibilities:• Complete biopsychosocial assessments for new admissions
• Develop initial treatment/service plans
• Conduct substance use and co-occurring disorder screenings and assessments
• Participate in intake and resident orientation
• Support approximately 1–2 new admissions per week
• Collaborate with primary counselors as residents transition into ongoing treatment
• Participate in treatment-team meetings, case conferences, and interventions
• Provide trauma-informed support within the residential environment
• Assist with crisis intervention as needed
• Provide limited individual, group, or family support based on referrals and resident needs
• Coordinate referrals, case management, and care coordination services when appropriate
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical records and documentation
• Participate in trainings and share relevant information with the broader treatment team
• Participate in outreach, resident activities, and recreational/program functions
• Observe resident progress and communicate relevant information to counselors and clinical leadership
• Become an active member of the residential community and multidisciplinary treatment team
Qualifications:• Active New York State LMSW license required
• Master's degree in Social Work
• Experience or clinical exposure to substance use disorder, behavioral health, trauma, or co-occurring populations preferred
• Relevant MSW internships and clinical field placements will be considered
• Newer LMSWs are encouraged to apply
• Experience with biopsychosocial assessments and treatment planning preferred
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Comfortable working with individuals impacted by trauma and substance use
• Collaborative, flexible, personable, and motivated to learn
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary residential treatment environment
Schedule & Work Environment:• This position is approximately 99% onsite. The typical schedule is around 9:00 AM–5:00 PM, but flexibility is important.
• Depending on resident and program needs, schedules may occasionally shift to hours such as 12:00 PM–8:00 PM, and there may be times when the LMSW stays later for a family meeting or other resident-related need.
• The program is looking for someone who understands that residential behavioral health can be fluid and who is comfortable becoming an active part of the overall program.
Why Consider This Opportunity:• For a newer LMSW, this position offers the opportunity to build valuable clinical experience in substance use treatment, trauma-informed care, assessments, treatment planning, case conferences, and interdisciplinary behavioral health without immediately inheriting a large ongoing therapy caseload.
• You will work closely with an experienced treatment team, follow residents' progress throughout their stay, and have opportunities for continued clinical development and support toward LCSW licensure.
