Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Legal Assistant to support attorneys and legal staff in managing daily legal and administrative activities. The Legal Assistant will be responsible for preparing legal documents, maintaining case files, conducting legal research, coordinating schedules, and ensuring efficient office operations while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, proofread, and format legal documents, correspondence, contracts, pleadings, and court filings.
  • Maintain and organize physical and electronic case files and legal records.
  • Schedule meetings, court appearances, depositions, and client consultations.
  • Communicate with clients, courts, opposing counsel, and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct basic legal research and gather information relevant to cases and legal matters.
  • Monitor deadlines and maintain attorney calendars to ensure timely filings and responses.
  • Assist with document management, discovery processes, and case preparation.
  • File legal documents with courts and government agencies, both electronically and in person as required.
  • Manage billing records, time entries, expense reports, and client invoices.
  • Handle confidential information with discretion and in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Support attorneys with trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, witness files, and case materials.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree, Paralegal Certificate, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a legal assistant, administrative assistant, or related role.
  • Knowledge of legal terminology, court procedures, and legal documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Experience with legal case management and document management systems preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under tight deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
