Description

Title: Learning and Development Specialist
Location: DMV area (once per month on-site required in Canton or Columbia, MD)
Duration: 1 year, possibility of extension

Purpose:

The Training Facilitator delivers dynamic, impactful training programs designed to equip employees with the essential skills and knowledge required for success. By hosting both virtual instructor-led (VILT) and traditional instructor-led (ILT) sessions, this role enhances current workforce capabilities and fosters new skills to meet evolving business demands.

Essential Functions

  • 40% | Training Delivery & Facilitation
  • Lead and facilitate engaging virtual and in-person training programs. Apply proven adult learning principles to drive behavioral change, build organizational capabilities, and maintain high learner engagement.
  • 35% | Evaluation & Continuous Improvement
  • Analyze post-training evaluations and stay ahead of business trends to continuously refine, update, and improve instructional content and delivery methods.
  • 20% | Content Maintenance & Development
  • Collaborate on the development, updates, and ongoing maintenance of instructional and training materials to ensure accuracy and relevance.
  • 5% | Scheduling & Logistics Support
  • Partner closely with training coordinators to streamline course scheduling and logistics.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience delivering training, teaching, or facilitating adult learning modules to large audiences.
  • Alternative Pathway: In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, a total of 6 years of relevant work experience is required (4 additional years plus the base 2-year requirement).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

Note: Proficiency is required across all the following competencies.

  • Adult Learning: Deep understanding of adult learning delivery methods and principles.
  • Technology & Tools: Proficient with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and Microsoft Office applications; ability to troubleshoot tech issues and utilize video editing software.
  • Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills with a proven ability to convey information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Organization & Research: Strong research skills to uncover strategic insights, paired with the ability to analyze, prioritize, and manage multiple deadlines effectively.
