As a core technical contributor on the Auth & Auth TSE team, you provide deep technical support for the firm's identity and authentication systems, including firmwide identity solutions, workforce sign-on and access platforms, and public-cloud identity providers such as Entra and Google Cloud. As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Chief Technology Office, you are an integral part of an agile team that enhances, builds, and delivers trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor on the Auth & Auth TSE team, you provide deep technical support for the firm's identity and authentication systems, including firmwide identity solutions, workforce sign-on and access platforms, and public-cloud identity providers such as Entra and Google Cloud. You deliver in-region coverage for these critical, high-visibility authentication functions, owning complex customer-facing integration incidents end to end and setting the standard for how the team diagnoses, documents, and mentors. You support the portfolio's growth and the TSE centralization effort by ensuring consistent, high-quality technical support across multiple business functions and platforms. You operate as a senior, hands-on engineer who tackles challenging integration issues, promotes root-cause analysis, and implements durable fixes that protect workforce sign-on and dependent applications. You collaborate closely with engineering teams across the firm to maintain the reliability and performance of front-line identity systems that employees rely on to securely access applications and services. You apply broad technical expertise-reading stack traces, scripting reproductions, dissecting token exchanges, and analyzing complex authentication flows-to quickly isolate and resolve issues. You translate complex technical findings into clear, actionable guidance that unblocks engineering customers and improves their integration patterns. You contribute to continuous improvement by refining diagnostic practices, enhancing documentation, and sharing best practices that elevate the overall effectiveness of the Auth & Auth TSE team.

Job Responsibilities

• Serve as an in-region, front-line technical support point across the Auth & Auth portfolio, strengthening resiliency for critical authentication functions.
• Partner directly with engineering customers to design and validate their integrations: flow selection, federation setup, onboarding, and secure credential handling.
• Own complex incidents that span several systems, driving them to resolution and supporting the maintenance and release work around them.
• Read and write code daily, including reproductions, diagnostic tooling, and reviews of customers' integration code.
• Author and review runbooks and root-cause write-ups.
• Provide regional escalation coverage and help bring other engineers up to speed.
• Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or breakdown technical problems
• Drives team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes (e.g., AI-assisted code review/refactoring, test strategy acceleration, incident/root-cause analysis support), while establishing consistent validation standards (secure coding, peer review, automated testing) and promoting reuse of effective patterns across the team.
• Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation.
• Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
• Customer-facing solution design. Proven experience working with engineering customers to understand a problem and help design the fix, not just relay information.
• Coding / scripting proficiency. Able to read and write code to reproduce issues and review customer integrations, whatever the language.
• Technical writing and review. Clear documentation and constructive review of others' work.
• Broad systems integration experience. A track record integrating across many systems, protocols, and languages, and reasoning across the full path from client to resource.
• Root-cause diagnostic rigor. Following the evidence (logs, traces, tokens) rather than guessing.
• Incident and release support discipline. Steady under pressure, with sound escalation judgment.
• Strong communication with both deeply technical and non-technical audiences.
• Advanced in one or more programming language(s)
• Demonstrated experience leading effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools (e.g., for coding, code review, test acceleration, troubleshooting) with the ability to set team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; experience coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption within delivery practices

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Experience with modern authentication and federation protocols (token- and assertion-based).
• Broader IAM knowledge: auth models, certificate and key registration and rotation, onboarding, least privilege.
• Familiarity with directory services and enterprise access platforms.
• Experience with federated identity across firm and public-cloud providers.
• Comfort with observability tooling and PKI basics (x509, mTLS, signing-key mismatches).
• In-region experience supporting high-risk locations.
