Lead IT Field Technician
Location: New Jersey (Frequent U.S. Travel Required)
Schedule: Full-Time, On-Site & Travel Required
Salary: $70,000+ (Based on Experience)
Job Overview
A growing IT services company is seeking an experienced Lead IT Field Technician to oversee field operations and support customer deployments throughout the United States. This role is responsible for leading field teams, managing onsite implementations, ensuring quality technical service, and maintaining strong relationships with customers.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage field teams during onsite customer projects throughout the U.S.
- Oversee site surveys and document network, internet, Wi-Fi, user devices, and infrastructure equipment.
- Manage customer onboarding and Go-Live implementations while ensuring teams follow company standards, procedures, SOPs, and best practices.
- Supervise hardware installations, replacements, and upgrades, including:
- PCs, laptops, and peripheral equipment
- Network switches
- Cabling and related infrastructure
- Wi-Fi equipment and other networking components
- Ensure projects are completed efficiently, accurately, and according to customer expectations.
- Provide guidance, troubleshooting support, and technical leadership to field technicians.
- Document completed work, including photos, notes, inventory, and project updates.
- Communicate professionally with customers, onsite management, and internal teams.
- Coordinate travel logistics, including arranging vehicle rentals and managing field schedules.
Qualifications
- Experience working in an IT environment, including technical support, field service, or deployment projects.
- Experience leading and managing teams with strong communication and customer service skills.
- Experience installing and troubleshooting PC hardware, peripherals, and network devices.
- Ability to read and follow technical diagrams, floor plans, and deployment documentation.
- Ability to work independently in the field while managing team responsibilities.
- Valid drivers license and ability to travel frequently throughout the United States.
- Must be comfortable with air travel and arranging rental vehicles.
- Ability to lift up to 80 lbs. and work on ladders when required.
Preferred Skills
- Experience working with a Managed Service Provider (MSP) preferred but not required.
- Understanding of firewalls, switches, access points, and basic network infrastructure.
- Strong attention to detail and customer-focused mindset.
- Certifications such as CompTIA A+ or Network+ are a plus but not required.
