Shop Technician

Our client is seeking a Shop Technician to support the assembly, repair, and service of custom retail display cases used in supermarkets and commercial environments. This is a hands-on position for someone with strong mechanical aptitude who enjoys working with tools, diagnosing issues, and performing repairs. The role begins primarily in the shop environment and offers a long-term opportunity to develop into a Field Service Technician position.
Responsibilities
* Perform mechanical assembly, repair, and refurbishment of retail display cases and related equipment
* Replace and repair components including doors, hardware, shelving, panels, and other fixture-related components
* Utilize hand and power tools to complete assembly, repair, and maintenance projects
* Assist with preparing equipment and materials for installation and service work
* Support field service activities and customer repair projects as needed
* Troubleshoot mechanical problems and recommend repair solutions
* Read work instructions, basic drawings, and repair documentation to complete assigned tasks
* Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
* Collaborate with production and service teams to ensure projects are completed on schedule
* Support additional shop and service-related activities as assigned
Requirements
* Schedule: Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM
* Experience with carpentry, mechanical repair, commercial maintenance, construction, fixture installation, or related hands-on work
* Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively
* Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
* Experience performing repairs on equipment, fixtures, machinery, or commercial systems
* Ability to explain previous repair work and the tools used in prior positions
* Comfortable supporting service work at customer locations when required
* Flexible to start early and support varying work schedules based on customer needs
* Valid driver's license required
* Must be able to pass a DMV/MVR background check and maintain a clean driving record
* Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience working in grocery stores, supermarkets, refrigeration environments, or commercial service industries
* Experience with brazing, wiring, motor repair, refrigeration systems, or equipment maintenance
* Previous field service or installation experience
