Cat Digital is the digital and technology arm of Caterpillar Inc., leveraging the latest technologies to build industry leading digital solutions for our customers and dealers. With over 1.5 million connected assets worldwide, our teams use data, technology, advanced analytics, telematics, and AI capabilities to help our customers build a better, more sustainable world.

Role Summary:

The Lead Data Specialist is the analytics and reporting owner for Cat OnPoint Marketing Services, responsible for delivering accurate, scalable, and actionable marketing performance insights across digital campaigns, customer journeys, and dealer engagement channels.

This role owns dealer-facing and internal reporting, develops dashboards and visualizations, and partners with stakeholders to interpret results, identify optimization opportunities, and demonstrate business value. The role focuses on measuring and improving campaign effectiveness, customer behavior, and conversion outcomes across Cat OnPoint Marketing Services.

As Cat OnPoint scales from proof of concept to enterprise deployment, this role ensures analytics and reporting are trusted, repeatable, and aligned to approved business cases and value realization objectives.

What You Will Do:

  • Own the end-to-end analytics and reporting strategy for Cat OnPoint Marketing Services.

  • Design, maintain, and enhance dealer-facing and internal dashboards focused on campaign performance, customer engagement, and conversion metrics.

  • Develop ad hoc dashboards and analyses to support stakeholder questions, performance reviews, and optimization discussions.

  • Analyze campaign performance across channels (email, digital, CRM-driven outreach), identifying drivers of engagement, conversion, and ROI.

  • Utilize data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau) to translate complex marketing data into clear, actionable insights.

  • Act as a consultative analytics partner to Dealers, Business Units, and internal teams by explaining campaign results, audience behavior, segmentation performance, and performance drivers.

  • Identify insights, risks, and opportunities, and provide data-driven recommendations to improve campaign effectiveness, targeting strategy, and customer conversion outcomes.

  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity across multiple data sources; investigate and resolve data discrepancies.

  • Partner with engineering and platform teams to define data requirements, specifications, and reporting structures.

  • Contribute to data modeling, ETL processes, and reporting enhancements within an agile delivery environment.

  • Define and support value realization and ROI measurement, ensuring alignment with approved business cases.

What You Will Have:

Value Realization: Knowledge of value realization methods; ability to plan, execute, monitor and manage business activities and resources to determine and achieve the actual value from a business initiative as estimated in an associated business case.

Communicating Complex Concepts: Knowledge of effective presentation tools and techniques to ensure clear understanding; ability to use summarization and simplification techniques to explain complex technical concepts in simple, clear language appropriate to the audience.

Agile Development: Knowledge of agile methodologies and the agile development lifecycle; ability to utilize formal agile methodologies, disciplines, practices and techniques for the delivery of new and enhanced applications.

Cloud Computing: Knowledge of cloud-based solutions and their applications; ability to design, implement, and manage cloud-based solutions to meet business needs and improve operational efficiency.

Information Management: Knowledge of an organization's existing and planned Information Architecture and Information Management (IM) methodology; ability to collect and manage information from different sources, and distribute this information to enhance operational efficiency.

Modeling: Data, Process, Events, Objects: Knowledge of data, process and events; ability to use tools and techniques for analyzing and documenting logical relationships among data, processes or events.

Considerations For Top Candidates

  • Experience owning analytics, reporting, and performance measurement for digital marketing programs, campaigns, or customer engagement initiatives.

  • Demonstrated experience working with marketing KPIs such as conversion rates, engagement metrics, campaign ROI, or customer lifecycle performance.

  • Working knowledge of data visualization / BI tools (e.g., Tableau) with the ability to build dashboards and visualizations.

  • Proficiency in SQL and experience working with large, complex datasets.

  • Strong ability to communicate analytical insights to non-technical audiences.
