Description

About Chado

At Chado, afternoon tea is an occasion. Guests come to our four Los Angeles tea rooms for birthdays and bridal showers as often as quiet Sunday catch-ups, and the food on the table is a big part of why they come back. We're looking for a chef who can make every one of those moments feel special, at every location, every time.

We're growing, including catering and events. That growth needs a chef who can make great ideas work every time.

The role

This is a new position. You'll run our central kitchen, producing for our tea rooms and our catering and events business, and help bring new items to our menus. You'll work in a collaborative environment, turning fun, whimsical themes into unique food experiences.

You're a systems-first chef. Your focus is consistency, so every guest gets the same great experience, and you know how to deliver the best possible product within a budget.

What you'll do
  • Run production at our central kitchen and keep every location supplied with fresh food

  • Coordinate packaging, storage, and delivery so food arrives fresh and sets up beautifully

  • Turn new ideas and custom requests into workable production plans

  • Write clear recipes, portions, and assembly instructions, and train our kitchen teams on new items

  • Lead food for catering and private events

  • Manage ingredient ordering, inventory, food cost, and waste

  • Keep the kitchen clean and inspection-ready, with strong food safety and allergen handling

  • Hire and train kitchen staff as we grow

What you bring
  • 5+ years in professional kitchens, with experience in both pastry and savory

  • Production experience at volume, whether in a central kitchen, catering operation, hotel, or multi-location caf

  • A track record of hitting budgets without sacrificing quality

  • Experience training teams to execute dishes they didn't develop

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, with the ability to communicate and train kitchen team members in both languages

  • An eye for food that looks polished and inviting (advanced decoration isn't required)

  • Strong understanding of food costing and safe food storage and transport

  • ServSafe Manager certification

Who thrives here
  • You build systems that make consistency the default

  • You'd rather serve a great dish every time than a spectacular one sometimes

  • You design dishes around the people who will build them

  • You're collaborative, and you take feedback as information rather than criticism

  • You like teaching and measure yourself by how well things run when you're not there

Bonus points
  • Afternoon tea experience

  • Catering or event production background

  • Experience overseeing more than one kitchen

  • Experience pairing food with tea, coffee, or wine

  • Comfortable sharing your work on social media and on camera

Our hiring process

We care about how you'll work with our team, so our process includes a short written exercise and a paid bench trial in our kitchen. During the trial, you'll teach one of our team members to build your dish from your spec. You'll also meet future teammates before any offer is made.

To apply

Send your resume and a few photos of your work to . In a few sentences, tell us about a dish you developed that other people now make, and how you got it right in their hands.
