Role Location: ONSITE 5 days/week in DC (must be located within DMV).
Requires Law degree, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one (1) year of study.
Requires sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.
Requires excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
Strong legal research skills, including the ability to research statutes, legal authorities, and relevant appellate precedent.
Advanced experience using LexisNexis and other legal research tools to identify, validate, and organize relevant authorities.
Proficiency with citation review, citation validation, and Bluebook formatting requirements.
Academic legal training and familiarity with appellate practice, legal analysis, and case law review.
Strong attention to detail and quality control skills for reviewing briefs, filings, citations, and legal references.
Ability to support attorneys with substantive legal research, statutory analysis, and legal authority validation.
Experience supporting brief preparation, internal brief repositories, and appellate litigation work product is preferred.
Conduct substantive legal research on statutes, regulations, case law, legal authorities, and appellate precedent.
Perform statutory analysis and deeper review of case law to support appellate attorneys and litigation teams.
Assist with preparation, organization, review, and maintenance of appellate briefs and related filings.
Perform citation checking, validate legal references, and ensure Bluebook compliance across appellate work product.
Review briefs and filings for formatting, accuracy, consistency, and quality control.
Use LexisNexis and internal brief repositories or brief banks to support research, citation review, and brief development.
Support attorneys by identifying relevant authorities and assisting with legal analysis, research-related tasks, and authority validation.
Experience with brief preparation, citation verification, legal research support, and quality control functions.
Ability to work on-site 5 days a week at the DC office location without issue (need to be located within DMV as a consequence).
