Pay Rate Range:$19.35- $21.44/hr W2
Schedule: Monday Friday 6AM/7AM/8AM (flexible time) 40 Hour Work Week
Required Skills: - High School Diploma required.
- Associate degree in Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biotechnology, or related science field preferred.
- Previous experience in a laboratory, manufacturing, healthcare, food production, or similar regulated environment preferred.
- Experience operating autoclaves or sterilization equipment is desirable but not required.
Responsibilities:
The QC lab Assistant is responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and compliant laboratory environment. This role provides operational support to laboratory personnel through media preparation assistance, sterilization and decontamination processes, laboratory cleaning, inventory organization, and general housekeeping activities. The position ensures laboratory equipment, materials, and workspaces are maintained in accordance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
Laboratory Organization and Housekeeping- Maintain laboratory workspaces, preparation areas, storage rooms, and laboratory kitchen areas in a clean and orderly condition.
- Organize laboratory supplies, consumables, glassware, and equipment to ensure accessibility and efficiency.
- Monitor inventory levels of laboratory supplies and notify management of replenishment needs.
- Dispose of laboratory waste according to established biosafety and environmental procedures.
- Support routine laboratory inspections by maintaining cleanliness and organization standards.
Sterilization and Decontamination- Operate autoclaves and other sterilization equipment following approved procedures and safety requirements.
- Perform decontamination and sterilization of laboratory equipment, media, glassware, instruments, and reusable materials.
- Maintain sterilization records, logs, and documentation as required.
- Verify proper operation of sterilization equipment and report any malfunctions or concerns.
- Assist with routine preventive maintenance and monitoring activities for sterilization equipment.
Media Preparation Support- Assist laboratory personnel in the preparation of microbiological and analytical media according to approved procedures.
- Measure, weigh, mix, label, and distribute media and reagents as instructed.
- Prepare laboratory containers, bottles, and glassware for media production activities.
- Maintain inventories of media components and preparation supplies.
- Ensure prepared media and materials are correctly labeled, stored, and tracked.
General Laboratory Support- Wash, clean, and prepare laboratory glassware and equipment for reuse.
- Restock laboratory consumables and supplies throughout the facility.
- Assist laboratory staff with routine support activities that facilitate laboratory workflow.
- Follow all laboratory safety, quality, and Good Documentation Practice (GDP) requirements.
- Participate in training and continuous improvement initiatives.
Working Conditions:- Work performed in laboratory and preparation areas.
- Frequent standing, walking, lifting(20-25lbs), bending, and carrying of laboratory materials.
- Exposure to laboratory cleaning agents, sterilization equipment, biological materials, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
- Must comply with all laboratory safety, biosafety, and quality procedures.
