Position Summary:
The Laboratory Manager is a position stationed at our El Nuevo San Juan Health Center in the Bronx, NY. The individual will manage our in-house laboratory operations at the site, including managing staff, policy, and processes. The incumbent must also possess a National Certified Phlebotomy Technician certificate to practice phlebotomy as part of the team. Although this is a managerial role, incumbents must be comfortable rolling up their sleeves and engaging in blood drawing when necessary to support this team.
Key Duties:
- Supervises a team of 5 Phlebotomists and 3 Patient Service Representatives across 4 drawing stations, and reception area. Supervision includes and is not limited to hiring, performance management, training, supervision, and payroll.
- Ensures specimen integrity by enforcing the laboratory's procedures for collection, handling, and processing.
- Maintains, implements, adheres to, and enforces departmental operating policies and procedures.
- Conducts phlebotomist training and assesses competency for phlebotomy-based roles in the organization.
- Maintains operating schedule for laboratory hours to ensure adequate staffing between Mondays and Saturdays.
- Liaise with BioReference for specimen pickup and processing.
- Runs reports in Electronic Health Records, monitors and tracks any critical laboratory values and notifies provider.
- Other related managerial duties and functions as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- National Certified Phlebotomy Technician through NHA, AMCA, NPA, or other nationally accredited institution.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is required.
- 2-5 years in a laboratory environment including supervisory or lead experience.
- Associates Degree minimum required, Bachelor's Degree in Health Service Administration or related field of study is strongly preferred.
- Bilingual Spanish/English, required.

Work Environment Type, Location, and Schedule:
Onsite, Bronx, NY, Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. 1 Saturday shift per month with a day off during the week.
Compensation:
$66,300-$70,000/annum based on 40 regular hours per week. Salary is contingent on education level and experience.
