    Join Orlando Health as a Laboratory Assistant II!

    Location: Orlando Health

    Schedule: Per Diem (As Needed)

    0630-1500, Saturday and Sunday required weekly, other shifts as needed. Holiday rotation required.

     

    Are you detail‑oriented, passionate about patient care, and eager to grow in the healthcare field? Orlando Health is seeking a Laboratory Assistant II to support essential diagnostic services that directly impact patient outcomes across multiple Orlando Health facilities.

     

    What You’ll Do

    As a Laboratory Assistant II, you will play a key role in laboratory operations, including:

    • Receiving, processing, labeling, and preparing specimens

    • Registering patients and entering laboratory orders accurately

    • Demonstrating knowledge of specimen collection and handling requirements

    • Processing pathology specimens and maintaining specimen integrity

    • Supporting patient registration and reimbursement workflows

    • Assisting with laboratory quality improvement initiatives

    • Maintaining laboratory equipment and inventory

    • Delivering excellent customer service to patients and team members

    • Ensuring compliance with safety, infection control, and regulatory standards

    • Assisting with report distribution, filing, scheduling, and general lab operations

    • Performing phlebotomy as needed (with approved competency)

    This role supports specimen handling, reference testing, ED throughput, inpatient lab operations for ORMC, OHJOI, APH, WPH, and outpatient registration/specimen processing for LWO, OHPA, OHMG, and external client accounts.

     

    What We’re Looking For

    • High School Diploma or GED

    • Two (2) years of laboratory or patient care experience preferred

    • Current students in Nursing, Medical Technology, Pre‑Med, or related science fields may substitute for experience

    • Strong communication, organization, and customer service skills

    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

    • Flexibility to support varying departmental needs and schedules
