Position Overview
The Laboratory Assistant II (Mon - Fri 3:00pm - 11:30pm) is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the Phoenix (PHX) laboratories. The Laboratory Assistant II shall demonstrate the skills and competency to work in a high throughput production environment and possess the ability to assist laboratory personnel in patient sample processing and all other support functions.
Essential Duties
Include, but are not limited to, the following:
Assist in the general upkeep of the laboratory; including, but not limited to, maintain sufficient inventory of material, supplies, and equipment and clean glassware, racks, and other laboratory supplies.
Perform laboratory decontamination using the appropriate materials.
Store and discard items; including, but not limited to, samples and plates appropriately according to the laboratory protocols.
Perform basis preventative maintenance on equipment according to the manufacture specifications.
Re-stock laboratory and distribute supplies to work areas.
Assist with special projects, as needed.
Apply effective oral and written communication.
Ability to work within a team and independently.
Ability to function in a fast-paced environment.

Maintain regular and reliable attendance.

Ability to work nights and/or weekends, as needed.
Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 10% of a typical working day.
Ability to use general office equipment, computers, and software applications.
Ability to use a computer, concentrate, and read and/or analyze data.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds for approximately 5% of a typical working day.
Ability to work seated for approximately 20% of a typical working day. Ability to work standing for approximately 80% of a typical working day.
Ability to comply with any applicable personal protective equipment requirements.
Ability to use various chemicals to perform duties.
May be exposed to hazardous materials and instruments with moving parts, heating and freezing elements, and high-speed centrifugation.
Ability to use various types of laboratory equipment; including centrifuges, vortexes, refrigerators, freezers, water baths, and heat blocks.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
Proficient computer skills to include internet navigation and email usage.
Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
Associates Degree in a scientific field.
1+ years of pertinent laboratory experience.
The base pay for this position is
$17.00 – $34.00/hourIn specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
