Job Title: Lab Assistant I
Location:  San Diego, CA 92121
Pay Rate: $21.45 - $21.77 / Hour
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM
Job Overview:
The Lab Assistant I supports bulk processing activities and finished goods formulations within a compliant manufacturing environment. Responsibilities include performing buffer exchanges, endotoxin assays, and adjusting concentrations while utilizing laboratory equipment such as nanodrops and spectrophotometers. This position requires strict adherence to GMP documentation, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and health and safety guidelines to ensure high-quality production operations.
Job Specifications:
  • Perform finished goods formulations, adjust concentrations, and execute buffer exchanges.
  • Conduct analytical testing, including endotoxin assays.
  • Review available inventory and optimize and analyze lot histories.
  • Read and meticulously follow SOPs, batch records, and other GMP documentation.
  • Utilize ERP and other databases to extract information supporting bulk processing activities.
  • Operate laboratory equipment, including nanodrops and spectrophotometers.
  • Perform data entry and ensure accurate completion of production documentation.
  • Clean and maintain the designated work area, lab equipment, and supplies.
  • Adhere strictly to correct procedures, company policies, and health/safety guidelines.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • 1–2 years of relevant lab experience with analytical assays and detection methods in an industry setting or a full-time academic environment.
  • Working experience in manufacturing under ISO 13485 compliance.
  • Highly detail-oriented with the ability to verify specifications, sales order information, and address problems that may arise.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with ERP/MRP databases to execute production orders.
  • Preferred: Experience working with aseptic technique in a biosafety cabinet.
  • Preferred: Experience with basic protein purification and basic protein formulation.
  • Preferred: Experience with GMP/QSR guidelines and performing analytical assays such as endotoxin testing.
  • Preferred: Hands-on experience pipetting or dispensing liquid products.
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, or another related area, or equivalent work experience.
