Job Description

The Knowledge Management Attorney (Registered Funds) strengthens the registered funds practice by developing practical legal knowledge resources, improving attorney workflows, and supporting high quality client service. The role leads knowledge strategy for registered funds matters and works closely with lawyers across asset management practices to promote consistent, current, and efficient legal work. The attorney maintains model documents, precedent materials, forms, checklists, training resources, and other practice tools that reflect current law, market practice, and regulatory developments.

Job Summary

The Knowledge Management Attorney (Registered Funds) serves as a senior legal resource for the registered funds practice group. The attorney in this role will identify knowledge needs, design practical solutions, and help lawyers use legal technology and artificial intelligence tools responsibly to improve service delivery, internal efficiency, and access to reliable information. The role requires strong registered funds experience, sound legal judgment, clear writing, disciplined project management, and the ability to build credibility with lawyers and professional staff across offices. The position focuses primarily on knowledge management and practice innovation, and it may also include selected client facing legal work related to registered funds.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and execution of the registered funds knowledge management strategy in coordination with practice leadership and related asset management teams.
• Build, update, and manage model documents, precedent collections, forms, checklists, practice notes, training materials, and other knowledge resources for registered funds matters.
• Monitor legal, regulatory, and market developments affecting registered funds and their advisers, and translate those developments into timely updates to practice tools and workflows.
• Collaborate with partners, counsel, associates, and professional staff to identify workflow gaps, improve access to knowledge, and implement practical solutions that support the practice's strategic goals.
• Support the responsible use of legal technology and artificial intelligence tools in registered funds work, including by helping lawyers evaluate use cases, improve workflows, and apply appropriate professional judgment.
• Identify, evaluate, and recommend third party legal, regulatory, and market resources that strengthen the practice's ability to deliver current and efficient advice.
• Develop and deliver training on registered funds topics, knowledge resources, market developments, legal technology, and efficient work practices.
• Prioritize knowledge management projects based on legal importance, practice need, client impact, and efficient use of resources.
• Help develop client facing materials and other legal work product that support registered funds clients and reflect current market practice.
• Promote consistent document standards, effective matter knowledge capture, and strong maintenance practices for the registered funds practice's knowledge resources.

Required Legal Skills and Education

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and admission in good standing to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction.
• More than five years of relevant registered funds experience will be required, preferably in a global or large law firm; comparable in-house legal experience may also be considered.
• Strong knowledge of the legal and regulatory framework for registered investment companies and investment advisers, including fund formation, registration, disclosure, governance, compliance, board matters, regulatory filings, and ongoing fund operations.
• Demonstrated ability to draft, review, and maintain high quality registered funds documents, including registration statements, board materials, compliance policies, investor disclosure, service provider agreements, forms, checklists, and precedent materials.
• Proven ability to track legal and market developments, identify practical implications for lawyers and clients, and convert those developments into clear guidance, training, and practice resources.
• Proficiency in using artificial intelligence technologies responsibly and ethically, including the ability to assess appropriate use cases, protect confidentiality, verify outputs, and apply independent legal judgment.
• Excellent legal writing, research, analytical, and verbal communication skills.
• Strong project management skills, sound prioritization, careful attention to detail, and the ability to manage several knowledge initiatives at the same time.
• Ability to build trust with lawyers and professional staff, collaborate across offices and practices, and lead changes in a professional services environment.
• Practical interest in innovation, continuous improvement, and the use of structured knowledge to improve legal service delivery.

Compensation

In accordance with the State's Pay Transparency Law the anticipated pay range for this position is $275,000 to $375,000, which represents our good faith and reasonable estimate of the starting salary range at the time of posting. In addition, this role is eligible for a discretionary, year-end bonus.
