KITCHEN MANAGER (OPERATIONS LEADER)

Position Type: Salary, Exempt
Location: Limoncello
Experience Requirement: Minimum 3–5 years in a leadership role within a full-service restaurant, with experience managing both kitchen operations and service execution

ROLE MISSION

The Kitchen Manager is responsible for leading the entire kitchen operation while acting as a key leader of the restaurant during service. This role exists to ensure the kitchen is staffed, prepared, organized, and executing at a high level while maintaining a professional, collaborative environment with the front-of-house team.

This role includes running opening and closing service manager shifts as needed, with full responsibility for the operation during those times.

This is not a back-of-house-only role. The Kitchen Manager must be able to run shifts, lead people, communicate clearly, and set the tone for the entire operation.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

  • The kitchen is fully staffed, trained, and stable
  • Service runs on time, organized, and under control
  • Core menu items are consistently available and properly prepped
  • The team is prepared ahead of service, not reacting during it
  • Communication between BOH and FOH is professional and solutions-focused
  • The kitchen environment is intense but controlled—not chaotic or hostile
  • Standards are maintained without constant oversight

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead daily kitchen operations and support overall shift execution
  • Run opening and closing service manager shifts as needed, taking full ownership of the operation during service
  • Act as a visible leader during service, maintaining control and pace
  • Build, hire, train, and retain a strong culinary team
  • Manage staffing levels proactively to ensure operational stability
  • Manage scheduling, labor, and team performance
  • Oversee ordering, inventory, and prep systems to ensure product availability
  • Eliminate recurring issues such as 86’d items through planning and execution
  • Delegate effectively and develop team members
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and high-performing kitchen environment
  • Set and enforce standards for professionalism and communication across BOH and FOH
  • Partner with front-of-house leadership to ensure a unified guest experience

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 3–5 years of leadership experience in a full-service restaurant
  • Proven ability to lead both kitchen operations and service execution
  • Strong presence and communication skills; able to lead a team in real time
  • Demonstrated ability to build and retain a team (not just manage schedules)
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to stay ahead of service demands
  • Ability to delegate and develop others, not rely on doing everything yourself
  • Experience maintaining product quality and availability at volume
  • Professional demeanor and ability to maintain composure under pressure

SCHEDULE AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 50-hour workweek
  • Full availability including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be able to work opening and closing service manager shifts as required by the business
  • Ability to stand and move for extended periods
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment

HIRING PROCESS REQUIREMENT

Candidates will be evaluated on their ability to:

  • Lead a shift in real time
  • Communicate effectively across BOH and FOH
  • Demonstrate control, organization, and decision-making under pressure

A working interview or shift evaluation may be required.

BENEFITS

Eligible employees may have access to company benefits, subject to plan terms and eligibility requirements, including:

  • Competitive salary
  • Paid Time Off (PTO)
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Health Insurance option
  • Prisma Health Direct Primary Care at no cost
  • 401(k)
  • Monthly Phone Stipend
  • Life and Disability Insurance
  • Employee dining privileges
  • Ongoing leadership development
  • Advancement opportunities within Larkin’s Restaurants

FINAL NOTE

This role requires the ability to lead both the kitchen and the floor. Candidates must be comfortable running full shifts and taking ownership of the entire operation.

We are looking for a leader who can take control of an operation, build a team, and execute at a high level every day. If you lead from the front, communicate clearly, and thrive in a fast-paced environment, we want to speak with you.
