Job Title: Kitchen Specialist
FLSA Classification: Hourly/Non-Exempt
Reports To: Food Nutrition Manager
Position Summary:
The Kitchen Specialist I assists with food preparation and maintains the cleanliness of dishes, workstations, and food storage facilities. The Kitchen Specialist I ensures compliance with health and safety regulations. The Kitchen Specialist I works under the direction of the Food Nutrition Manager.
Qualifications:
•High school diploma or equivalent.
•Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills.
•Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
•Desire to work with seniors and other adults with disabilities
• Must be detail-oriented and have strong organizational skills
• Excellent leadership and communication skills
• Strong knowledge of food production techniques and culinary trends
•Capacity to work in a fast-paced environment.
•Ability to stand for extended periods.
•Ability to work shifts, over weekends, and on public holidays, as needed.
• Satisfactory references, criminal background check, drug screen, and sanction check
Responsibilities:
•Assist with state inspections and lead kitchen presentations.
•Cleaning all dishes, work stations, cooking equipment, and food storage areas in accordance with food safety regulations.
•Washing, chopping, shredding, and grating ingredients for subsequent use by the cook.
•Sweeping and mopping floors as needed.
•Assisting with the uploading and organizing of deliveries.
•Storing ingredients following prescribed food safety regulations.
•Assisting with inventory monitoring.
•Reporting all damaged or faulty equipment to the Food Nutrition manager.
•Packing customers' leftover food upon request.
•Cleaning trash cans and regularly disposing of refuse.
•Completing all required training by the Health Department.
•Submitting food order supplies to vendors and/or the Food Nutrition Department on time and accurately.
•Assisting with shopping for supplies as needed.
•Helping with other tasks assigned by the Food Nutrition Manager and/or Program Manager as needed.

Advanced interpersonal and communication skills to secure cooperation, interpret policies, exchange information, and provide professional judgments in continuous contact with management personnel, colleague managers, and other employees; contacts with medical staff, and representatives of outside agencies or groups, clients, families, vendors, and public. Works with a range of adult clients of various ages with multiple types of health care needs. Ability to listen attentively and speak clearly and distinctly in receiving and responding to inquiries.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Training and certification in CPR within the first three (3) months of employment and recertification as required. Annually, each employee must have a PPD test or be determined to be free of symptoms of tuberculosis if there was a previous positive PPD.
