Description

Rushmore Construction Group

Junior Construction Project Manager

Location: Oakhurst, NJ | Office & Field-Based

Build Exceptional Homes. Build Your Career.

Rushmore Construction Group is a growing, founder-led custom luxury home builder based in Monmouth County, New Jersey. We guide homeowners through every phase of the building process, from pre-construction planning and design coordination through construction and long-term care. We take pride in exceptional workmanship, attention to detail, and creating one-of-a-kind homes rather than producing from a standard floor plan.

We're looking for a motivated, highly organized Junior Construction Project Manager who is ready to take ownership of custom residential projects from planning through punch list. This is a hands-on role that blends office-based project coordination with time in the field. You'll work directly with homeowners, designers, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and our site team while learning every stage of a high-end custom build.

We're less concerned with having a long list of years behind you and more interested in finding someone who communicates well, stays organized, takes initiative, and remains calm when construction gets complicated. For the right person, this is an opportunity to grow quickly alongside an experienced team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for homeowners and designers, providing updates on schedules, budgets, change orders, selections, and project milestones.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, designers, inspectors, and township officials to keep projects moving forward.
  • Review purchase orders, scopes of work, material selections, and subcontractor scheduling.
  • Build and maintain project schedules using Buildertrend.
  • Sequence subcontractors, trades, and major material deliveries.
  • Track allowances, cost-to-complete, purchase orders, bills, and change orders.
  • Review construction plans, specifications, and shop drawings.
  • Organize selections, permits, inspections, engineering sign-offs, and project documentation.
  • Conduct site visits and quality-control walkthroughs before work advances to the next phase.
  • Create and maintain rolling punch lists.
  • Partner closely with the Site Supervisor to resolve outstanding items.
  • Handle client concerns, disputes, and scope conflicts professionally and calmly.
  • Manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-moving custom-home environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field; OR an Associate's degree from a trade or technical program with relevant coursework.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and shop drawings.
  • Comfortable coordinating multiple moving pieces across several projects.
  • Proficiency with project-management software; Buildertrend experience is a plus.
  • Construction, trade, internship, or custom residential experience is valuable, but we are open to candidates who have the right educational foundation and aptitude to learn.
  • Comfortable working both in the office and in the field.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to occasionally adjust work hours to accommodate inspections, client meetings, or project milestones.
  • A solutions-first attitude and the ability to stay composed under pressure.

Pay & Benefits

  • Full-Time. W-2 employment
  • Pay: $60,000 - $80,000 base salary, commensurate with experience.
  • Performance bonus opportunity based on project performance, individual contribution, and company results.
  • Paid time off.
  • Opportunity for substantial hands-on training and professional growth.
  • Direct exposure to experienced project managers, site supervisors, company leadership, and every stage of the custom-home construction process.
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, with occasional early morning, evening, or weekend work as project schedules and client needs require.
