Job Title: Job Coach

Department: Employment Services

Reports To: Director of Employment Services

FLSA: Non-Exempt

SUMMARY

Trains, mentors, or coaches program individuals in individual and/or group work settings in accordance with their person-centered vocational plan in a customized employment job or volunteer setting.

BASIC FUNCTIONS AND GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides employee development by utilizing individual work or work-related activities to assist

individuals to understand the meaning, value, and demands of work; to modify or develop attitudes,

personal characteristics, and work behavior; and to develop functional capacities, as required, to assist

individuals in reaching their optimum level of vocational development

Works with employers and individuals co-workers to understand the training methods and

accommodations that are needed for the individuals success

Work alongside the individual to help them learn their new work tasks

Assist the individual in identifying and developing natural supports at the work site

Assist the individual in learning and understanding their workplace culture

Create job aids, task analysis and other tools to foster ongoing success and independence

Transports program individuals when related to vocational activities and approved by your supervisor

Communicate the individuals work progress with supervisor

Writes case notes and summaries that are detailed and accurate within the timelines established by

department leadership and agency policies

Completes all reports within timelines established by Department leadership and agency policies

Accepts and willingly carries out special assignments or duties, when requested

Promotes a positive image of Life Unlimited and program individuals to the local community

Provides prospective employers with appropriate program information; responds to employers bias and

concerns regarding hiring persons with disabilities

Assures the confidentiality of information regarding program individuals.

Abides by ethical and legal guidelines for case communication and recording

Respects the rights of all individuals served

The ability to effectively and efficiently use computers or mobile devices to input, access, modify, or

output information. This includes the ability to quickly access, store and retrieve data

Demonstrates effective time management by maintaining a reliable schedule to support both individual

and team goals.

Maintains professionalism in communication and actively contributes to a positive and respectful team

culture.

All Other Duties as Assigned

ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Knowledge of programs and services for people with developmental disabilities preferred.

Willingness to travel on company business in personal or company vehicle.

Good written, oral, and communication skills.

Ability to be flexible.

Respect the rights and dignity of people with Developmental Disabilities and willingness to advocate on

their behalf.

Physical Expectations

This position requires extended periods of walking and standing with some periods of sitting which is

dependent upon the needs and activities of the individuals supported. It may require light to heavy lifting,

up to 50 pounds independently, and occasional stooping, kneeling, bending, and/or climbing stairs

depending on the needs of the individual supported.

The position will require occasional physical intervention if confronted by a person displaying combative

or potentially dangerous behavior.

Driving an agency or personal vehicle is a part of community integration for the individuals we support.

Working Conditions

Office/home environment with noises from appliances, telephones, and occasional small machinery (lawn mower, etc.). May be exposed to bloodborne pathogens and/or infectious diseases. Occasionally, prolonged hours or unusual chores to meet the unexpected needs of the individuals (i.e. medical and/or behavioral).

QUALIFICATIONS

Be at least 18 years of age and provide proof of high school diploma or G.E.D.

Must be able to communicate effectively in English both in writing and orally.

Must not have been convicted of any disqualifying felony and must not have been substantiated for abuse or neglect in the state of Missouri, as recorded by the Department of Mental Healths Employee Disqualification List.

Must have reliable transportation for transporting clients.

Must demonstrate safe practices in all areas and exemplify positive professional standards.

Must obtain a Class E drivers license during new hire orientation must carry minimum coverage

applicable by law for auto insurance

Must Receive Seasonal Flu Vaccination

Experience working with individuals with disabilities in vocational rehabilitation and/or training settings is

desirable. Education may substitute for experience.
