Founded in 1920, Akerman is recognized as one of the nation's premier law firms, with more than 700 lawyers across the United States. Akerman is seeking an IT Technician - Technical Administration Specialist to join our IT team in our Orlando office.
The IT Technician - Technical Administration Specialist is responsible for supporting the firm's access control, IT asset management, and telecommunications administration functions. This role serves as a key resource in maintaining accurate records, managing technology assets, supporting user provisioning processes, and assisting with telecommunications administration. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of experience in IT support, technical administration, asset management, or a related technology environment, along with strong organizational and customer service skills.
Responsibilities:
Access Control Administration
- Create and issue access cards for new hires.
- Replace lost, stolen, or damaged access cards as requested.
- Maintain access groups and permissions for office locations across the firm.
- Generate and distribute access reports as requested.
- Ensure access control records remain accurate and up to date.
IT Asset Management
- Enter newly acquired technology assets into the firm's asset management database.
- Maintain and update asset inventory records throughout the asset lifecycle.
- Perform periodic asset audits and reconcile inventory discrepancies.
- Coordinate the return of leased technology equipment firm-wide.
- Track and communicate outstanding lease return requirements to responsible parties.
- Create and maintain Absolute DDS computer tracking accounts and related records.
- Assist with asset procurement and purchasing activities as assigned.
Telecommunications Administration (Backup Support)
- Assist with the administration of telecommunications equipment, systems, and user accounts.
- Troubleshoot routine telecommunications and account-related issues.
- Prepare IP telephony extension displays and configurations for new hires.
- Process user profile updates, moves, additions, and changes within the phone system.
- Prepare out-of-office greetings and voicemail updates as needed.
- Maintain telephone number assignments and related records.
- Process telecom workflows for employee onboarding and departures.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in IT support, technical administration, asset management, telecommunications administration, help desk support, or a related role.
- Experience maintaining databases, inventories, records, or technology assets preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Working knowledge of IT and telecommunications terminology.
- Familiarity with VoIP telephone systems such as Avaya, Cisco, Mitel, or similar platforms preferred.
- Familiarity with Unified Communications platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, or Cisco preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to quickly learn new technologies and business processes.
