Our client, an established insurance and services organization, is seeking a hands-on IT Manager to oversee day-to-day technology operations, infrastructure, security, and IT staff across its business.
This role is ideal for an experienced IT leader who is comfortable managing a small technical team while remaining actively involved in systems administration, infrastructure support, security, troubleshooting, vendor management, and technology planning.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee daily operations of network, server, desktop, and business systems infrastructure.
Manage, develop, and support a small team of IT professionals and contractors.
Maintain and administer IBM i, Windows, network, service desk, and related infrastructure environments.
Support and oversee RPG-based systems and related application requirements.
Evaluate and recommend hardware, software, infrastructure upgrades, and replacement technologies.
Manage system installations, upgrades, maintenance, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
Develop and maintain backup, disaster recovery, security, and business continuity processes.
Maintain network, data, system, and communications security in accordance with applicable standards and regulatory requirements.
Manage IT budgets, vendor relationships, technology purchases, and cost controls.
Partner with business users and senior management to identify technology needs and improve system effectiveness.
Provide regular updates to leadership regarding infrastructure, security, projects, risks, and department priorities.
Participate in hiring, training, performance management, and development of IT staff.
Qualifications
5+ years of experience supporting IT operations, including leadership or supervisory responsibility.
Strong hands-on experience with IBM i administration and RPG programming.
Experience administering Microsoft Windows environments, networks, service desk operations, and end-user systems.
Experience with Google Workspace/Google Apps administration.
Strong knowledge of infrastructure security, backup, disaster recovery, and systems administration best practices.
Experience managing hardware and software installations, upgrades, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, vendors, and operational responsibilities.
Strong problem-solving, critical-thinking, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently while effectively managing and developing a small technical team.
Degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
Candidates should also be comfortable performing occasional hands-on hardware and infrastructure work, including installing or removing equipment, working in confined areas, and lifting up to approximately 15 pounds.
Location: Onsite five days per week initially, with the expectation of transitioning to a hybrid schedule of approximately three days per week onsite.
Compensation: $100,000$135,000 annual base salary. Actual compensation will depend on factors including experience, qualifications, skills, and business needs. The position also includes a comprehensive benefits package.
