Technical Project Manager - Data Center & Infrastructure

Type: W2 contracts, long term, ongoing

Location: Dearborn, MI

Pay: $50-$61/hour, depending on benefits & experience

• This is NOT a supervisor/lead role. We want a true, hands-on project manager, capable of communicating with both technical AND non-technical stakeholders, support multiple IT infrastructure projects, with advanced skills in Excel AND Jira.

Overview

We are seeking a Senior Technical Project Manager to lead a portfolio of enterprise infrastructure initiatives supporting data centers, plant computer rooms, network infrastructure, and critical facility environments. This is a long-term role managing multiple concurrent projects over a multi-year roadmap, including data center modernization, facility upgrades, infrastructure refreshes, DCIM migration, and critical power initiatives.

The ideal candidate brings a strong combination of project leadership, infrastructure knowledge, financial management, and stakeholder engagement. They should be comfortable coordinating across IT, facilities, engineering, operations, vendors, and leadership teams to successfully deliver complex infrastructure programs in mission-critical environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end delivery of data center and infrastructure initiatives, including modernization, technology refreshes, migrations, remediation efforts, and facility upgrades.

• Manage a portfolio of concurrent projects supporting a multi-year infrastructure roadmap.

• Develop and maintain integrated project plans, schedules, dependencies, resource plans, budgets, and executive-level reporting.

• Coordinate activities across IT infrastructure, networking, facilities, operations, engineering, security, vendors, and business stakeholders.

• Drive projects involving:

• DCIM migration and data center modernization

• Plant computer room upgrades

• Power distribution improvements

• UPS, PDU, and backup power system replacements

• HVAC and cooling infrastructure upgrades

• Network infrastructure deployments and refreshes

• Establish project governance, communication plans, status reporting, steering committee reviews, and stakeholder alignment.

• Own RAID management, proactively identifying and mitigating risks, issues, assumptions, and dependencies.

• Coordinate site readiness activities including access management, safety planning, maintenance windows, outage coordination, and operational readiness.

• Manage vendor and contractor relationships, including purchase orders, SOWs, schedules, deliverables, acceptance criteria, and quality oversight.

• Drive scope management and change control while balancing business priorities, technical requirements, timelines, and budget considerations.

• Partner with Finance and Procurement on project estimates, purchase orders, invoice validation, forecasting, and budget management.

• Present project status, risks, milestones, and recommendations to program leadership and executive stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of Project Management experience leading enterprise infrastructure or technology initiatives.
• Experience managing data center, network, facilities, or infrastructure-related projects.
• Experience leading multiple concurrent projects across cross-functional teams.
• Strong understanding of enterprise IT infrastructure environments and data center operations.
• Experience managing project budgets, forecasts, purchase orders, and vendor contracts.
• Experience with project management and collaboration tools such as MS Project and Jira.
• Strong communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to interact effectively with technical teams, facilities personnel, vendors, and executive leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in mission-critical or 24×7 operational environments.
• Experience supporting data center infrastructure, critical facilities, or plant technology environments.
• Familiarity with critical power systems, including UPS, PDUs, generators, electrical distribution, and cooling infrastructure.
• Experience managing large-scale modernization, migration, or infrastructure refresh programs.
• PMP or equivalent project management certification.
