IT Field Technician

Location: New Jersey (Frequent U.S. Travel Required)
Schedule: Full-Time, On-Site & Travel Required
Salary: $55,000+ (Based on Experience)

Job Overview

A growing IT services company is seeking an experienced IT Field Technician to provide onsite technical support and assist with customer deployments throughout the United States. This role requires strong hands-on technical skills, professionalism, and the ability to independently complete onsite installations and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Travel to customer locations across the U.S. to perform onsite IT services.
• Conduct detailed site surveys for network, Wi-Fi, and infrastructure documentation.
• Assist with onboarding new customers by installing and validating hardware.
• Install, replace, and upgrade computers, laptops, and peripheral equipment.
• Install and connect network switches, cabling, and related infrastructure.
• Install and configure Wi-Fi access points, antennas, and wireless equipment.
• Troubleshoot and resolve onsite technical issues.
• Document completed work, including photos, notes, and inventory updates.
• Communicate professionally with customers and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Experience working in an IT environment, technical support, field service, or deployment role.
• Experience with hardware installations and basic networking preferred.
• Understanding of basic IT support operations.
• Ability to read and follow diagrams, floor plans, and deployment documentation.
• Ability to work independently in the field and provide daily updates.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel frequently, including flights.
• Ability to lift up to 80 lbs. and work on ladders when needed.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with multi-site deployments or field engineering.
• Basic understanding of switches, firewalls, access points, and network infrastructure.
• Strong attention to detail and customer-first mindset.
• Certifications such as CompTIA A+ or Network+ are a plus but not required.
