IT and Systems Support Specialist
Simi Valley, CA | Full-time | MF 8:00 AM5:00 PM
Job Summary
August Roofing and Solar is in the middle of the biggest technology shift in the company's history. We've just rolled out a new CRM, a field service management platform, and AI tools, alongside a stack of new processes. We need someone to own the day-to-day technology support that keeps all of it running and keeps our team actually using it.
This is a hands-on IT support role first. You're the person people come to when the laptop won't connect, the iPad needs setting up, or someone can't find the right screen in the CRM. Beyond that, you'll help us get real adoption out of the systems we've invested in: building out the platforms, writing the SOPs, and training the office and field teams. If you're early in your IT career and want a seat at the table while a company modernizes, this is a good one. You won't be ticket number 40 in a queue. You'll be the person who decides how this stuff works here.
Bilingual English and Spanish candidates are encouraged to apply.
Join a Growing Team in Roofing & Solar!
At August Roofing & Solar, we're not just building roofs we're building trust, peace of mind, and lasting customer relationships. As a leading Southern California contractor, we specialize in roofing, solar, and maintenance services for homeowners, HOAs, and property managers. Our team is expanding, and we're looking for the right person to help us grow.
What You'll Do
Technology and equipment support (the core of the job)
- First point of contact for all company technology. Computers, iPhones, iPads, drones, printers, and peripherals.
- Set up, configure, update, and troubleshoot equipment for new hires and existing staff.
- Support company email account setup for office and field staff.
- Own the phone system: learn it, train new employees on it, and document how it works.
- Escalate and coordinate larger projects and complex issues with our outside IT vendors.
- Track our hardware inventory: who has what, warranty status, and what's in the spare pool.
- Systems administration and adoption
Systems and Administration
- Become the in-house expert on our platforms, including our CRM, field service software, AI tools, and the rest of our roofing and solar software stack.
- Monitor data integrity and hold the line on data standards. Bad data in the CRM costs us jobs.
- Test new and updated applications before they go out to the team.
- Serve as liaison between our employees and our software vendors and IT consultants.
Training and documentation
- Train office and field staff on how to use our systems correctly.
- Go out to job sites to train field crews in person on the apps, devices, and technology they use every day, and help them troubleshoot in the field.
- Write SOPs and documentation that people will actually read and follow.
- Identify paper-based and manual processes and digitize them.
- Roll out changes, then follow up to see whether they stuck.
Reporting and analysis
- Learn the reporting tools inside each platform and pull the numbers leadership needs.
- Compile and present data on company performance metrics.
- Provide Excel support to department heads so they can build and track their own reports.
What We're Looking For
- Patience and strong communication. A lot of this job is teaching people who don't think of themselves as tech people. How you explain things matters more than how much you know.
- Bilingual English and Spanish is a strong plus. A good portion of our field team speaks Spanish, and being able to train and support crews in their own language makes this job easier and better.
- Solid working knowledge of computers, mobile devices, and basic networking.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Fast learner who can pick up new software without waiting for a manual.
- Extremely organized with real attention to detail.
- Able to find the actual cause of a recurring problem instead of fixing the same thing every week.
- Comfortable working with everyone from field crews to executives.
- Valid California driver's license and insurable driving record. Occasional travel to job sites for training and support.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or a related field preferred.
- One to two years of related experience preferred. Equivalent hands-on experience considered in place of a degree.
- Experience with a CRM, a field service platform, or construction or home services technology is a plus, not a requirement.
Why Work With Us?
- $68,000 to $72,500 annually, depending on experience
- Full Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, PTO, and paid holidays
- Supportive team culture built on professionalism, craftsmanship, and growth
- Career development opportunities in a growing company that promotes from within
