What you will be doing:
Transact + CBORD is seeking an experienced Internal & External Communications Manager to own and elevate our corporate communications strategy. This role will serve as the central point of accountability for all public relations activities while also strengthening internal communications, sales enablement content, and employee advocacy efforts.
This individual will partner closely with Marketing, Sales, Product, Executive Leadership, and external partners to ensure consistent, compelling, and compliant messaging across all external and internal channels. The ideal candidate is an exceptional writer, a proactive communicator, and a highly organized operator who thrives in cross‑functional environments.
Who you will work with:
This role works closely with the extended Marketing team, Sales, and Product Marketing to develop and amplify messaging across internal and external channels. The Internal & External Communications Manager also partners with Human Resources on employee engagement initiatives and collaborates regularly with senior and executive leadership on thought leadership and company announcements. Externally, this role serves as a primary point of contact with The Fletcher Group, Illumia's PR agency, managing the end-to-end press release process and ensuring all external communications are aligned and on-brand.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Public Relations & External Communications
- Own and manage all public relations activities, including press releases, announcements, bylines, awards, media inquiries, and executive communications.
- Serve as the primary owner of company's end-to-end press release process and governance, partnering with an external PR agency responsible for drafting releases.
- Lead internal review, editing, feedback consolidation, and approval workflows for all press releases, ensuring alignment with brand voice, messaging standards, legal requirements, and partner obligations.
- Ensure final PR content is accurate, compliant, and ready for distribution and publication on corporate web properties.
- Partner with Social Media and Brand teams to amplify PR announcements across owned channels.
- Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, strategic alliance partners, and external PR agencies.
- Maintain documentation and best practices for PR, internal communications, and sales enablement processes.
- Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and best practices in internal and external communications.
Sales Enablement Communications
- Develop and distribute sales enablement communications tied to press releases, product announcements, partnerships, and company milestones.
- Translate PR into clear, compelling internal-facing summaries, talking points, FAQs, and assets for Sales and client-facing teams.
- Build and manage HubSpot content and sequences, when appropriate, to support sales enablement efforts and make it easy for Sales teams to share timely news with clients and prospects.
- Partner with Sales Enablement and Marketing leadership to ensure consistent messaging, proper segmentation, and timely delivery of materials across channels.
Internal Communications & Employee Engagement
- Lead internal communications initiatives that keep employees informed, aligned, and engaged with company news, announcements, and priorities.
- Draft high-quality internal communications related to PR announcements, bylines, executive thought leadership, and company milestones.
- Increase employee engagement with company content through internal campaigns, content sharing initiatives, and brand ambassadorship programs.
- Support internal initiatives that strengthen culture, transparency, and connection across a distributed workforce.
Content Strategy & Writing
- Serve as a primary corporate writer for internal communications, sales enablement materials, social copy, executive messaging, and supporting content tied to PR.
- Edit and refine externally drafted PR content to ensure clarity, consistency, accuracy, and alignment with company messaging.
- Adapt messaging for different audiences, including employees, clients, partners, media, and executives.
What you bring to the table:
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in internal communications, external communications, public relations, or corporate communications.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with strong attention to detail.
- Proven experience managing press releases and complex approval processes.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and deadlines.
- Comfortable working cross‑functionally and communicating with senior leadership and executives.

Essential Functions of the job:
The duties and responsibilities described in this job description are intended to represent the essential functions of the position as defined under applicable federal, state, and local labor laws, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). These functions are the fundamental job duties required for successful performance.
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions unless such accommodations impose an undue hardship on the organization.
This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities. Duties may be added, removed, or modified at any time in accordance with business needs and applicable law.
What is good to know:
Competencies and Behaviors
- Highly proactive and solutions‑oriented.
- Comfortable owning processes and driving work forward independently.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to execute tactically.
- Collaborative team player with a strong sense of accountability.
- Passion for clear, effective communication and continuous improvement.
- Humble: The right leaders for Illumia don't need to own the spotlight — they share credit, define success collectively, and are quick to elevate the contributions of others. This is a company that still writes its story. The leaders who thrive here find energy in building something together, not in being recognized as the smartest person in the room.
- Hungry: We are not looking for caretakers. We are looking for leaders who are restless about what's possible, self-motivated to close the gap between where we are today and where we need to be, and who are already thinking about the next opportunity before anyone asks.
- Smart: At Illumia, our leaders must operate across a complex, distributed organization spanning multiple product lines, two legacy cultures, and thousands of customers with competing priorities. Technical skills matter, but the ability to read a room, build trust across functions, and bring people along is what separates a great leader from one who burns the organization out.
This position is classified as Exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and applicable state wage-and-hour laws.
What you get when you join our team:
- Flexible time off to include paid holidays and volunteer time.
- Robust health, dental, and vision insurance plans on your first day of employment
- Employer-paid life insurance/AD&D/short-term and long-term disability insurance
- Comprehensive employee assistance program (EAP)
- Flexible spending account (FSA) or health savings account (HSA)
- Matched 401(k)
- Employee stock purchase plan
Base salary offers for this position may vary based on factors such as location, skills, and relevant experience. Some positions may include additional compensation in the form of bonus, equity, or commissions.
