Position Summary:

The Internal Communications Manager in the Penn Medicine Communications Department serves as a consultant for leadership and internal clients to identify and execute communication strategies and develop content and collateral supporting Penn Medicine's strategic goals. This position plays a crucial role in internal communications for the growing Penn Medicine enterprise, delivering important information about institutional priorities, goals, values, calls to action, and change initiatives. The ideal candidate possesses strong writing, editing, and web/multimedia skills as well as technical acumen that will allow them to effectively support development of new communication methods to reach our regionally dispersed workforce. Reporting to the Associate Director of Internal Communications, this individual will be required to work across the health system to ensure effective, timely, accurate, and well-organized communications.

Accountabilities:

• Support internal clients to develop and execute communications campaigns, executive communications, and strategies to increase employee engagement and continuity of operations across Penn Medicine and within segmented internal audiences.
• Proposes effective approach for a diverse range of recognizable complex problems, effectively identifying underlying causes or organizational challenges that might not be apparent to clients and leveraging tools and techniques specific to team.
• Develops communication plans and milestones for complex projects, generally up to 12 weeks duration, reflecting a diverse array of tools and techniques used within team.
• Recognizes business issues raised by clients and can adjust approach to accommodate/address those issues in a timely manner.
• Manages client engagements where the scope of the engagement is entity-specific or the stakeholders and deliverables are well-defined.
• Manages project teams of up to three people that may include colleagues from within and outside the Communications department.
• Project/team management involves appropriately engaging staff and assigning and monitoring the achievement of responsibilities related to the project.
• Manages time-limited client relationships where the client is typically at the manager or director level Maintains consistent contact with key institutional stakeholders including system and entity leadership teams to stay up to date on changes/shifts in an initiative or priority's direction.
• Promotes relationships with key internal clients, including creating and delivering presentations to appropriate forums to showcase the Internal Communication team's work.
• Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures
• Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization

Minimum Required Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree is required (master's preferred).
• 6+ yearstExperience in a communications role, with demonstrated skills in developing, managing and delivering metrics-driven communications strategies and plans in a large, complex organization is required .
• Experience managing vendors, including contracted writers, designers and webbased service is required s.
• Experience with development of digital media - social media, video, infographics .is required
• Experience writing and editing is required
• 1+ Management experience is preferred
• Flexibility and adaptability in dynamic environment
• Clear ability to operate independently in a high-profile, fast-moving environment characterized by multiple competing prioritizes and stakeholders.
