Job Title: Interior Designer

Job Description

This role offers an experienced interior designer the opportunity to contribute to impactful corporate and higher education projects within a collaborative, design-focused studio. You will lead and support the development of thoughtful, creative interiors from concept through execution, using your expertise in Revit, AutoCAD, and 3ds Max to deliver high-quality design solutions. Responsibilities

  • Partner with project leadership to develop innovative and practical interior design solutions that align with client goals and project requirements.
  • Work across corporate interiors, workplace, and higher education projects, contributing to all phases of design and documentation.
  • Research and select materials, finishes, furnishings, and color palettes that support the project concept, performance criteria, and budget.
  • Prepare design presentations and visualizations using Revit, AutoCAD, 3ds Max, and other tools to communicate design intent clearly.
  • Coordinate with clients, consultants, and internal project teams to ensure design solutions are integrated, feasible, and aligned with project schedules.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients by actively listening, communicating clearly, and responding to feedback throughout the design process.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues in a studio environment, contributing ideas, sharing knowledge, and supporting a culture of design excellence.
  • Manage multiple project priorities and deadlines, organizing tasks and documentation to meet the demands of a deadline-intensive architectural practice.
  • Participate in the design and execution of both interior and exterior aspects of projects, including new construction, additions, and renovations.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of design standards, workflows, and best practices within the studio.

Essential Skills

  • 5-7 years of professional interior design experience, including exposure to corporate interiors and/or higher education projects.
  • Proficiency in Revit for interior design documentation and coordination.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD for drawing production and detailing.
  • Proficiency in 3ds Max for 3D modeling and visualization.
  • Strong graphic communication skills, including the ability to develop compelling visual presentations.
  • Strong verbal communication skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly to clients and project teams.
  • Strong written communication skills for documentation, reports, and project correspondence.
  • Ability to think critically and exercise sound independent judgment in design and problem-solving.
  • Collaborative mindset with confidence contributing ideas in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with a passion for thoughtful, creative design.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced studio setting.
  • Experience working on corporate interiors and workplace projects.
  • Experience working on higher education projects.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Progress toward NCIDQ certification is preferred.
  • Experience with healthcare, science and technology, and institutional projects is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with both new construction and renovation projects, including additions and interior and exterior design scopes.
  • Interest in designing environments that improve the healthcare experience and create warmer, more welcoming spaces.
  • Comfort working in a deadline-intensive architectural environment.
  • Enthusiasm for collaborating in a boutique-style office that engages with large and complex projects across a broad geographic region.

Work Environment

You will work in a medium-sized firm with multiple offices, including a New York City studio of approximately 30 people and a total firm size of about 125 employees. The practice focuses on healthcare, science and technology, corporate interiors, and institutional projects, spanning new construction, additions, and renovations that include both interior and exterior design and execution. The culture is highly collaborative, promoting inclusion and shared ownership of projects across all experience levels, with opportunities to contribute meaningfully regardless of tenure. The work is deadline-intensive, reflecting the nature of the architecture and design industry, and requires comfort with managing multiple priorities. Standard hours are approximately 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with some flexibility considered on a case-by-case basis. The studio maintains a professional yet relaxed atmosphere with a business casual dress code, and offers the feel of a smaller boutique office while working on large, complex, and impactful projects.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New York, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $46.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
