Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for an Interim Director of Human Resources (Hospital) for a large, complex healthcare organization serving a diverse patient and employee population. This is an urgent, 100% onsite opportunity in Fort Worth, Texas, anticipated to last up to 6 months.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Interim Director of Human Resources will provide hands-on leadership across Employee Relations, HR Business Partnerships, employee engagement, and talent development during an important period of transition for the organization. Employee Relations is the primary focus, with this leader stepping in to strengthen HRBP effectiveness, navigate complex employee matters, coach the existing team, and serve as a confident partner to senior leadership. This individual will also oversee learning and development and engagement functions while assessing current practices and recommending practical improvements that strengthen the broader HR organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead Employee Relations and HR Business Partnership functions, providing decisive guidance on complex employee matters, investigations, corrective action, performance management, terminations, workplace concerns, and employment-related risk.
  • Coach and strengthen HRBPs to operate as proactive, consultative business partners who confidently advise leaders, assess risk, resolve issues, and appropriately challenge recommendations when needed.
  • Assess existing HR operations, team structure, processes, and service delivery, identifying immediate opportunities for improvement and providing senior leadership with actionable recommendations for longer-term strategy.
  • Oversee employee engagement, learning and development, leadership development, performance management, and related talent initiatives, partnering with existing managers and HR leadership to maintain continuity and strengthen effectiveness.
  • Maintain strong healthcare regulatory and accreditation readiness, including Joint Commission-related HR requirements surrounding job descriptions, employee qualifications, credentials, workforce competency, and related compliance.
  • Serve as a highly visible, hands-on HR leader who partners with executives, managers, employees, and HR colleagues across a complex healthcare environment while balancing immediate operational needs with broader organizational strategy.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • HR leadership experience within an acute-care hospital environment, with safety-net, Level I trauma, or similarly complex healthcare experience strongly preferred.
  • Deep Employee Relations expertise, including complex investigations, performance management, corrective action, terminations, employment risk, policy interpretation, and executive-level consultation.
  • Strong understanding of Joint Commission requirements and healthcare HR compliance, with the ability to independently advise leaders on workforce qualifications, credentials, regulatory readiness, and employment practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop HR Business Partners and HR teams while operating as both a strategic advisor and hands-on practitioner.
  • Experience overseeing or partnering across talent management, learning and development, employee engagement, organizational development, or leadership development functions.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

This position offers a pay rate of $102 per hour. This is a full-time interim assignment expected to average approximately 40 hours per week and last up to 6 months. The position is 100% onsite in Fort Worth, Texas. Scion Staffing employees may be eligible for benefits based on assignment and employment status.
