Validation Engineer – Private 5G NetworksPosition Summary
We are seeking a Validation Engineer to test and verify private 5G network solutions for industrial and enterprise customers. This role develops and executes end-to-end test plans across radio access, core, transport, cloud management, devices, and customer IT/OT systems. The engineer will validate network performance, security, reliability, and readiness for customer acceptance.
Key Responsibilities

• Review solution designs, network topology, and customer requirements to define test plans and acceptance criteria.
• Develop and execute integration, regression, performance, scalability, and failover tests for new deployments, upgrades, migrations, and expansions.
• Validate end-to-end scenarios such as device onboarding, mobility, network segmentation, QoS, firmware updates, and application connectivity.
• Analyze test results, logs, alarms, and network data to isolate issues and work with engineering teams on resolution.
• Build automated test suites and scripts using Python, shell, or similar tools; integrate testing into CI pipelines where applicable.
• Verify latency, throughput, coverage, reliability, and recovery against the needs of business-critical applications.
• Test authentication, encryption, segmentation, and other security requirements.
• Document test procedures, configurations, results, defects, and evidence for internal and customer acceptance.
• Collaborate with solution architects, network engineers, project managers, and operations teams to support deployment and handover.
• Provide technical support during early-life and stabilization periods.

Qualifications

• Experience testing or integrating 4G/5G networks, including RAN and core network fundamentals.
• Understanding of private 5G architecture and its integration with enterprise LAN, data center, security, and IT/OT environments.
• Strong scripting and test automation skills, preferably with Python and shell.
• Experience designing end-to-end test scenarios and analyzing network performance data.
• Ability to troubleshoot across network, device, application, and management layers.
• Familiarity with high-availability testing, including redundancy, failover, and recovery.
• Clear technical documentation and communication skills.

Preferred Experience

• Ericsson Enterprise Private 5G (EP5G) or Enterprise 5G portfolio experience.
• Testing industrial devices such as routers, scanners, sensors, tablets, AGVs, or autonomous vehicles.
• Experience with private network deployments in manufacturing, logistics, mining, ports, utilities, or airports.
• Familiarity with management portals, remote diagnostics, CI pipelines, and device certification or ecosystem testing.
